Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

In my opinion, and in my case, there is a fairly simple reason as to asking not only questions about foam, but any question in general..... I am going into this restoration project with zero knowledge of boats and learning as I go. That one specific spot in general, I had assumed that there was...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Looking for some advice once again on a new motor. I have toned it down on the search for one, as I know I have more work to do on the boat before worrying about a motor. The only reason I am posting this is because some of you said that if I found a decent deal, that I should jump on it only...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Been there many times. I'm from door county. I'm moreso thinking along the shorelines of green bay or lake Michigan just to travel to door county from green bay.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

I'm still cutting seats out yet. Eventually once they all come out and the boat is completely stripped of decking... seat bases and foam... then yes...I will get to the stringers and transom

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Went back at it today. It was moreso a cleaning day than I cut and gut day.... but I did some of that as well. Most of the debris that was sitting inside was picked up... swept up or vacuumed out using my new diary separator attachment and power switch! It was a nice feeling seeing her a tad bit...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Back from vacation started hacking away at getting all the crap out. It really sucks when you do this alone. I got pretty winded after a couple hours of cutting.. ripping....prying and struggling. Decided to call it quits for the day and clean up all the garbage that I've tossed out of the boat...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

When it comes time to start grinding/sanding......Are we talking about an actual grinder? I do have a Ryobi Grinder, but wouldn't that be too rough on the fiberglass? I also feel that a drill with a sanding disc attached will take forever to sand down, but will leave a nice flush surface. What...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Stickies???? What's that? Definitely taking pictures and measuring what I can. Leaving the lip is a good idea! So do you say to leave it until new stringers are in and then cut the lip out and grind down? And yes, I am being as careful as I can. I am terrified of cutting through the hull!

I am anticipating that....However, I am not opposed to this project taking that long either. I work 1216 hour shifts and can only focus on this boat on my days off if my kids allow it LOL.
