    Shifting fwd should move the linkage, no need to be running. Manual states NOT to shift in reverse with motor off. Could be the "throttle only" button stuck. Guess you will have to dig into it further. good luck.

    If you goto the Mercury website, support page, you can download the owners manual for your motor. Or one for the same model of a different year. Explains how the shifter / tiller works. Manual says not to shift reverse unless the motor is running.

    Tap a punch in one of the holes counter clockwise to loosen. After you put the new disc, hand tight will do. It will tighten more when used. Same as a grinder.

    Well I think the outlet from the bypass cover provides pulses same as used to operate the fuel pump on the other cover. But this outlet has a very tiny oriface fitting and the line goes into the lower section of the intake manifold. Just curious as to it's purpose. :(
