Why I do not have new boats.

Yep....I have yet to see a new boat that can do more than my 1992...for the minimal savings in fuel....don't think I would live long enough to make up the difference.

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

Never needed trim tabs on my 22'Islander once the factory rear mounted fuel tank was removed. It rusted out and was moved forward and replaced with an aluminum tank. The original rear seats beside the motor Were also removed and three seats across the front of the dog house made a much better...

When do you pull your freshwater boat?

Never been screwed after 60 plus years of boating. Added stabilizer long before E fuels ever came out. Have used E10 since it hit the market, maintain my equipment as recommended by the mfgr, never an issue. Have had issues buying fuel that had excess water in it, so I check often where I buy...

Most all mfgrs recommend making carb adjustments while on a boat and underway... It does make a difference !! In my days of repairing motors ( yes it has been a while). We had long tubs with flowing water to simulate being on the water for carb adjustments. If you look at most factory service...

Not which one is really better, but mire of "which gives you more bang for the buck. Decades back, I swore by Sears batteries, typically got seven plus years out of them, then they became trouble. Used Duralast for a while, then they became unreliable and costly. For a few years just bought...

    1993 mercury 90hp blowing fuses

My 1992 Merc had a similar problem last summer. Suddenly no start and blowing fuse. Searched high and low thinking there was a bad wire/ connection somewhere. Carefully searching found a tiny little mark on the wire wrapping used to protect the wires in tight areas. Would never noticed...

    4hp johnson slower than expected

Need to do a thorough test on your older motor, she might be tired. It has been my experience with the weedless drive that it does not push as well, but only 1 or2 mph, not double the speed ! Same with weedless props on electric trolling motors..
