    96 j150exedb. Water pump

I boat in salt, so at the end of every season after flushing I pull the stats and replace or put them in a small cup of salt away. No flow at the tell tail (pisser) means bad pump or draw tube, no engine flow means overheat. Right now you don't know either. Just do the steps and you will find...

Pictures are not a lot of help. Have you jimmy rigged a hose to the pickup tube to if you have flow? No flow means block passages generally.

    carburetor swap

Easiest answer here is, do you have each carb? Just try it, I'd have that test completed for in about 1 hour...if it takes you two your still okay. Key words here are "I don't care about speed or loss of power"

battery charging issue has me stumped

I have a 92 3 cylinder 25....I will see if I can replicate the situation. For me...testing a rectifier is quite easy and fast. Testing the voltage without a battery on a larger engine is something I would not do and wonder why anyone would. 8 hp, pull start....no problem.

battery charging issue has me stumped

If it ain't the battery, which it's highly likely it is, it's a dirty wire. Either the grounds or power at solenoid. Just because something shows its charging when its not hooked to a battery doesn't mean when it has a draw on it....it will test good. Battery or a wire if what your telling us...

Once again Occma's Razor. If it makes you feel any better, I had to eat crow on here myself and it didn't taste very good!

battery charging issue has me stumped

He keeps calling it a regulator. See post 17. Either it has a bad diode or the battery is "Kaput"!

battery charging issue has me stumped

    Ever hear of a diode? It's a rectifier.....repeat, rectifier.

battery charging issue has me stumped

"Battery seems fine" yet I see no proof. The battery is the regulator. Rectifier just converts it to usable power. If your getting a charge at the wires then your system is good. It appears that your battery has a headache similar to ones wife!

You can heli-coil the spark plug hole and make sure to true up the head with a super flat surface and a sheet of sandpaper. Figure 8 pattern will get you there.

battery charging issue has me stumped

I agree with oldboat or if you have a tester (volt meter) you can do a resistance test on the rectifier. Pretty straight forward with lots of stuff on YouTube.

Yeah.... Nice spark plug. Your right, clean up the plug...re-gap it, re-install the head and drink some beer! Hahahaha! Racerone, will walk you through it....I think he's part "Bushman". I would just hone the cylinder, knurl the piston, change the rings, bolt it together and drive it like you...
