    ? why are you running your motor @ 500 RPM for so long. V8 motors don't like that . if you are going to be idling for such long periods , up the isle to around 750, 800 RPM with fast idle on the shifter, that should overcome your problem.

SB V8s also have the drain plug and most times they snap before they come loose , i replace them with brass plugs on all motors as a given. some i have had to chip out one little bit at a time , it is ok as the plug material is weaker...

    yep , mine is still copping a beating , i just don't let it rev past 5500 rpm. it will easily go too 6200 rpm but i back off so as i don't break it.
