    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

First real outing in the boat yesterday. The seas were fairly calm and the boat did well. A few observations and notes. . . The boat needs 3500-4000 RPM to come up on plane with a fair amount of bow rise until it flattens out. So, typical of a heavy deep V hull. I need to grow (vertically...

5.0 mpi runs rough when wet

Hard to imagine that much water getting in unless you had 6-8" of water in the bilge. If so, then perhaps the electrical wiring is getting wet and reducing the voltage to the engine.

Pic of Milkshake spew all over my engine. Help please

Since the milkshake look more Vanilla flavored than Coffee, I'd say there is quite a large leak. Check the manifolds first . . . however, if it is the manifolds, you'd have water in the cylinders. Also, insufficient winterization could cause either the block of manifolds to freeze-crack (or...

1996 Century Boats 1800 Center Console Refit and Modernization

I envy the space (land) you have to work on your boats . . . (y) The Sea Ray interior looks great, as does all the work you did on the Century CC. :D

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

We took the boat out for a 'shake-down' cruise yesterday. . . Definitely a different feel to the boat vs. my Formula. All this drive-by-wire stuff gives you no 'feel' for the controls, so you have to see how the boat reacts to adjustments in steering and throttle. The Axis Joystick works...

    Quit My Job . . .

8 days and counting. I've got two 4-day weeks coming up. I'm thinking I'll see if I can land a few boat upholstery jobs/project for folks in the local area and see how that goes.

    Seafoam Questions

Seafoam come in both a spray and a bottle, if you want to add it to the fuel. I have found that Mercury PowerTune works the best as far as cleaning gummed up carburetors and carbon build-up in the cylinder. It may not cure the engine woes, but at least the fuel system and engine internals will...

Need some recommendations for gelcoat chip repair

It's not hard . . . will take 5 minutes. Gelcoat patch kits typically will have some basic colors for color matching, or you might be able to get the Spectrum brand of gelcoat in the factory color. A little prep to the area, a dab of gelcoat, and then a small piece of clear plastic over the...

    I need help with this

Welcome to iBoats . . . More words and even pictures will help with responses. Are you meaning to say by 'interior' seat bases, frames, and paneling? If so . . . then . . . Wood or HDPE (aka starboard, marine board, etc). If you use wood there is an 'old timers wood sealant' formula that...

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

It's launched . . . splashed. . High tide was around mid-day, so lunch break from the day job included the boat launch. . . I had to put the truck on fairly deep. so I will probably lower the boat on the trailer so I don't have to go quite so far in. As you can see (maybe) the ramp...

    Second Boarding Ladder . . .

Thanks for the comments guys (y) Yes, I did intend on rounding the corners as part of the finish work. This ladder will probably be dedicated to the dog ramp as needed, leaving the primary ladder for people. I will say, that cutting into the swim platform, and my observations in general...

    Second Boarding Ladder . . .

Possibly - we shall see how it goes. It is mostly to secure the dog ramp when we boat with 4-legged friends

Chevrolet Demon 5,7 l marine engine

Probably why he was selling the boat  . . . There are moments when we all call our boats names of various sorts, although demon is not highly used as opposed to some other choice words/phrases.

    Second Boarding Ladder . . .

Yes, I have the drawing for the CG Schmitt 'flip-out' style ladder (P/N L5T44500C-1), which is similar to the OEM ladder on the port side. but I decided to go with this ladder (not sure the brand). Still would need the 'box' though . . . If this does not work out, then over next winter, I can...

    Second Boarding Ladder . . .

On my old boat (Formula 330 SS) I've gotten used to having 2 boarding ladders via my special swim platform. On my new-2-me boat, it only has one boarding ladder off the port side of the swim platform. I planned to add a second boarding ladder on the starboard side. I toyed with a few ideas...
