Need Help Installing Distributor in 4.3MPI

Not familiar enough with the MPI engines to give you a definitive answer, however I would stop looking at how to set up a Chevy; you're working on a completely different ignition system. My reading of that manual is that the rotor tang should fall within the reference marks after installation...

I mean, I'll do it, got family in mashpee and Boston and no job, but do you want me to? 😁

    Air Don't Freeze Winterization

2 basic types, full or half system. A full system has AF (real stuff, not rv) through the block and manifolds, half is block only. They don't see raw water. Coolant flows through heat exchanger acting like the radiator in your car except it uses raw water instead of air to transfer heat. The...

    Fuel pump fault

Doubt it 🤣 Just like it says--wiggle wires and connectors and see if anything changes, indicating a poor connection somewhere

    Air Don't Freeze Winterization

They didn't always recommend this. And if people spray off their trailers with fresh water after every use I bet they'd corrode much less. As far as the manifolds go, well yeah. You're running warm salt water through them still. And the antifreeze doesn't make them last longer, right?

    Gas Issues

I'll get flack for this, but you can siphon some from the bottom. That's where all the water is. Do this in manageable batches (2 gallons at a time maybe). Let it separate. Take as much water as you can off the bottom and discard. You should now have only gas. Repeat drawing from the tank until...

    Only 4400 rpms on V6 4.3 2005 19P 3blades

    Mine hit 49 @ 4600 with a 23p and a 1.84, so same ballpark

    Air Don't Freeze Winterization

Meh. If the corrosion from a salt water engine occurred more during storage after being flushed and sitting empty than from actually running warm, corrosive liquid through it, then fresh water engines would have the same corrosion as the salt engines.

    1987 Mercruiser 470 manual?

Somewhat off topic, but is it still possible to share files through the new software's PM's? Like if one hypothetically wanted to share a completely non copyrighted file that totally wasn't a manual for example?

Generally, turn wheel right -->boat goes right Turn wheel left -->boat goes left. Anything past that we'd need to know a bit more about what's on there now ...

1988 GM 5.7 stalling when slowing down

Neutral safety affects the starting circuit only Yes, clearly electrical problem Yes/no/yes, but you won't be able to shut the engine with the key. All the wiring between the battery, through the engine harness cannon connector, up to the ignition switch (red/purple wire), through the...

Looks like LI and Cape Cod are connected by some sort of water passageway.

Boat going in reverse instead of forward

I know... My post was trying to show why changing props to change direction in an O/B gear case might do damage if the o/b case had a similar design to the stern drive (less robust thrust bearing in reverse)

4.3 mercruiser how to winterize with outdrive on

Interesting. I wonder if just blowing that hose out with a shop vac would work. I might try it and then pull to see what's left. There's a lot of space in the cooler, and it's relatively a low stakes gamble...

Boat going in reverse instead of forward

He clearly stated inboard, and was clearly talking about an I/O. Post #19 clearly has a picture of a merc I/O lower unit, and an explanation of why simply running a counter prop on a standard gear case would not be a good idea.

Boat going in reverse instead of forward

The I/O engines themselves didn't run counter (which would be CCW) but the outdrives did, and were different in twin setups. Are you saying twin OBs had the same gear cases?
