    Anybody know this song?

Okay, I was cruisin' craigslist and came across an ad from a guy selling his boat, with a video included. Checked out the vid and the fella did a great job. The background song has some terrific pickin' that got me grinnin'! Can anybody identify the tune and artist? Here's the ad...

    Slipped on the ICE today!

Owwww... my leg!! ](*,) Started to step outside onto my front porch steps this morning to reload the bird feeder. Stepped down onto the landing with my left foot, which completely slipped out from under me. As I went crashing downwards, my right leg remained in place on the doorstep. My...

An operational workaround to a software limitation

I am definitely gonna have to buy a new computer in 2010 sometime. My old system still works very well for me, but I keep bumping up against Windows 2000 limitations. The latest issue has finally convinced me to start shopping. For Christmas, my sweetie bought me a new digital camera, which...

    Saved my cousin today

My 67 y.o. cousin called today and was telling me about a "sweet deal" on a 13 y.o. fiberglass fish 'n' ski that has been sitting uncovered outdoors for over 3 years up north. The 150hp Mercury hadn't been run during that entire time, but the package was priced at only $1,000. Told him...

    Sea Nymph second voyage

Took my girlfriend out in my little Fishing Machine this afternoon for a couple hours. It was my GF's first time in a boat for well over 20+ years and her very first time in my little boat. It was GLORIOUS weather out there today too! A great day to head to the Gulf. We launched without...

    Twins on a Starcraft?

Okay, ya'll know I'm a tinboat fan, what with my little Sea Nymph and all. That 14 footer is my skinny water boat, but someday I'll also add a larger boat for fishing farther out in the Gulf. Was thinkin' a 19' Islander or maybe a Chieftain would be good. But I want the safety of twin...

    Okay, hook me up!

Sometime in 2010 I plan to upgrade to a new computer. Probably a laptop or netbook or something similar. What I want to be able to do is to use the laptop in the living room, using the Sony Bravia LCD tv as the monitor. Preferably wirelessly. And yes, I want to be able to watch tv as well as...

    Sea Nymph update

I've been a very busy boy over the last few weeks and haven't had much time to work on my little Fishing Machine, but DO have it ready to fish now! It is functional, but not optimized or restored. Vessel accomplishments: Mounted a used ($10) MotorGuide 30lb. thrust trolling motor on the bow...

    Laser as a rescue aid?

There are frequent news stories like this one where people get prosecuted for shining lasers at aircraft, etc. Gives me the idea that having a small laser onboard in the ditch bag might be a good idea. The Coast Guard and other rescue agencies say that even though the person in the water...

    Pretty little tin boat

Was browsing C/L and saw this nice little restoration. Not my boat, nor do I need another one, but thought I'd share. Whoever did the resto certainly did a good job. http://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/boa/1446082614.html

    Washing machine filling slowly

I mean really slowly! On the order of 20 minutes or more to fill with just cold water, which barely dribbles into the tub. Yes, the spigot is fully open. This slow filling thing is fairly recent, but has been getting worse for about 6 months or so. The machine used to fill normally from the...

Just waitin' for the tide now. EDIT - the tide came in!

Did the watertight test for my JB Weld repair on my Sea Nymph. No leaks! Tide is going out until 12:30 and I want to wait till I have a couple of hours of the incoming tide before taking the boat to the water. Gets REAL shallow around here at low tide! Will post updates after my return!

    Boat show report (long)

My girlfriend and I attended the Tampa boat show at the Florida state fairgrounds on Saturday Oct. 19, 2009. It was her 2nd show and just one of many for me. We had a really good time checking everything out. Crowds were better than expected, perhaps because of the free admission. Attendance...

    My Sea Nymph status

Okay, just wanted to update everyone. First - the 25hp Mercury: Got the carb taken apart and cleaned by my neighbor last week. Ran some Sea Foam through it first, plus added the rest of the can to the 6 gallon fuel tank. While cleaning, he discovered that the float needle retaining pin was...
