    The neutral safety switch is for start in gear protection. It interrupts power to the starter motor relay if the motor is in gear. The neutral position switch tells the ECU if the motor is in neutral or in gear. In a jet drive application it is normally fixed in the "in gear" position.

    Small Yams do come from the factory with a propeller installed. This is from Yamaha US data for the last year that the 15MSH was offered.

    Instead of a casting flaw I would suspect that it was corrosion that caused the hole. The other block may be along as well, given enough time. Some weld the block with a TIG welder. Some JBWeld or epoxy the hole in the block. Some will tap the hole and insert a plug.

    See the data posted above your message. No change in RPM between the two models. 9.9 and the 15. Simply seems to be letting more air through the carburetor. Carburetor adds more fuel of course. More air, more fuel, more power.

    I have compared the 9.9 and the 15 parts catalogs. Only difference that I can see in the reed valve assembly. I have compared the 9.9 and the 15 service manual. Only difference that I can see is the reed valve assembly. Would not have believed it had I not seen it.

    I see what I think is the positive battery cable connected to the starter relay and the ground battery cable connected to the starter motor. If no power there then the battery cables, battery switch, battery, etc.. are kaput. Very strange but...

    You are saying you have no power to the motor. Did you test at the connections annotated as following on your photograph?

    That is interesting. Both have the same MSRP but different boats.net prices. Both of them still being available surprised me also. For 50% power increase and the cost being what it is I would give it a try.
