    Mercury 500 Strange Ignition Problem?

Intermitted miss firing when moving the warm-up lever sounds like the carbs. need to be set up properly also the timing & pick-up needs to be verified if set correctly (Sorry I just saw that Racerone already said this) so I can only add Inspect the wires coming off the trigger-arm, remove the...

Force 120 Outboard Low compression - rebuild it?

Remember, if you don't have (already) broken bolts and/or the gasket is not leaking; you don't need to take it apart to replace the pistons/rings etc.

Force 120 Outboard Low compression - rebuild it?

lol you mean; 90% break and to get to them you ether pull the power-head or the bottom-cowl

    I bought it.. 1985 50hp

    Oh...that's different :)
  10. The Force power

    I bought it.. 1985 50hp

I never had a Merc. that was equipped with power-trim. but on others. I would raise it up and leave it there, check the next day to see if it dropped?? Maybe clean the motor?? check for a good seal where the motor meets he pump housing?

    I bought it.. 1985 50hp

NICE!!!! I would not just clean the carbs. but also replace the diaphragms (fuel-pump) that way there will be no more guessing or harm done. Do a run-out on the shaft to confirm straight or bent?? and repair what you got :)

And that...... (I'm sure) was what jerryjerry05 was referring to :)

    significance of same cylinder-pressure

There were my thoughts were going as well...the momentum would be thrown-off as there are un-even forces on the crank????
  14. The Force power

    Intermittent "cough" during startup.

Good point! I don't have a test wheel either, but I do have test-tank and with a 15 P prop attached I can run it in gear at idle-speed to verify/adjust the RPMs
  15. The Force power

    significance of same cylinder-pressure

Thank you all that tuned in & taking the time to explain :)
  16. The Force power

    Intermittent "cough" during startup.

how so? tied to the dock would simulate a "test-tank" correct??
  17. The Force power

    significance of same cylinder-pressure

Nope it's a new head gasket I'll explain; there's two used pistons/rings and one new in it, that's what's causing the different in pressures.
  18. The Force power

    Intermittent "cough" during startup.

I don't know and I'm not sure to what this is referenced ?
  19. The Force power

    significance of same cylinder-pressure

What would be the long term effect of running 3 cylinder with 2 having 125 psi & 1 having 145 psi
