    ???? Why not mix the fuel already in the jerry-can(s); they are usually the means of the fuel source already before its goes into the boat's fuel-tank. (unless you fill up at a gas station)

    When you syphon out the contents and shake it in jerry can and pour it back in fuel tank add properly mixed fuel/oil (50:1) to fuel tank you should be ok

    Always always always mix the fuel & oil in jug first before adding to the fuel-tank! Make a new batch & flush this through the carbs run the engine to clean it out

    COOL boat!! Yes definitely a project to bring back to it's glory days! Find a much printed info on this motor and hopefully gurus like merc850 Chris1956 racerone will tune in and they can give you the best info available here is a link for the controls in the meantime...

    its cast-aluminum it will crack easily, you're chucking them anyway

    IF..........there's no need to remove the stud, then no (why bother) Just be careful not to damage the stud!!

    IF........the mechanism is not too worn-out???????(controls box) then I would replace all the wiring in it front to back all the way to the engine.(you'll probably have to re-wire/replace wire on the engine side also)

    Just to be clear the power will be 12 volts regardless of how the ignition set up is. Stator v.s. battery power However the ignition power will not be the same (as racerone already pointed out)

    Racerone brought a very solid point to the attention! I apologies for the oversight! Yes for sure a '65 will need battery power to run however the control-box/cables can be used with the right modification to the hook up of the wires.
