    How often lower unit gear oil chg. on Merc 40HP?

    Just curious - I just chgd. lower unit gear oil - cheap and easy on my 40 hp Merc, how often should I do this? I want all to last as long as possible. Is it OK to use automotive 80/90 wt. like in my vehicles diffs - I have gallons of that? Thanks, Heinz

    What year Merc motor 40hp 2 stroke S/N 3347398???

    I'd like as much info on my motor as possible, Merc. 40 HP 2 stroke has "402" on motor cover and serial# 3347398. What fuel/oil mix ratio should I use? Thanks, Heinz

    40hp Merc 2 stroke oil/gas ratio?

    I have a 40hp Merc outboard and I'm running 32.1 ratio as former owner did.(25 - 32.1 is range I was told), I havent yet got ser. # but he says he thinks motor is 1984 model. Does ratio sound right? Thanks, and I'm in process of getting manual, Heinz
