Taking apart command 2000 remote control

My fuse blowing issue came back today and I think it might be in the remote control key switch. For some reason the motor flooded this morning and it took a lot of cranking and a new set of plugs to get it going. Not long after it started blowing the 20 amp motor fuse each time the key was...

    Dieseling 3.0

Seafoam won't hurt anything, according to the mfgr they almost flood the engine with it until it stalls, then let it set......after 10-15 minutes run it with a rich mixture of seafoam in the fuel. Often a small external tank is used for this. When it fires back up, it will smoke like crazy...

    Dieseling 3.0

Watch your engine temps, check your gages to see if they read correctly. Often run-on comes with high cylinder temps. You might run a compression check also, as worn valves can cause this as well. A good carb cleaner won't cure your issue, but it wouldn' t hurt either.

    Syncing carbs?

On my jonny, the instructions called for setting the plates to a certain dimension opened, I used drill bits of the proper dia called for, then a feeler gage was used to set the gap on the lever that controls the plate. This is the only one I have done, so not sure about others.

    Syncing carbs?

Cant speak for Yamaha, only had to do a linc and sync on my jonny 70 with three carbs. Everything in the manual was mechanical dimensions and feeler gages to get them set correctly. After all settings were done, minor idle fuel mix adjustments were made in water under power at idle with a 1/2...

Gas cap ? on a 1989 bayliner capri 85hp force outboard

The poster mention checking the vent line to the tank, so I would guess it is a built in tank. If it is, then the cap will not be vented !! Check vent hose from tank and be sure there is an upward loop in that hose so any water entering the external vent will not run back into the tank.

Need to replace outer transom board

We used to refer to them as a clamp board in the old days. Outboards had a couple small little feet on the transom clamp that would bite into the wood to keep the motor from slipping off the transom. Easy to replace fairly often...

    Transom and floor replacement

If it is a fiberglass boat, you have a really big job ahead ! If the floor is rotted the the transom will be rotted also, along with the stringers. If an aluminum boat...still a big job but no where near as big.

Easier time putting on the trailer

If your in salt water, then rolker trailer maintenence could very well be an issue !! I am in fresh water only and just upgraded a few rollers that age had destroyed the old rubber. Those old rubber rollers were over 20 years old, upgraded to the newer poly material which is supposed to last...
