    Remove carburetor bowls.-----Are they clean or is there green " varnish in them ?----Did you remove high speed jets ( orifice plug ) to make sure they are clean?-----Is the fuel pump mounted directly to the side of the top cylinder ?

    The reed valves have nothing to do with compression in the cylinders !----You can throw the reed valves under the work bench and get good compression readings !

    That would be correct.-----No power to the control box.----But if that fuse was blown you could still start that motor with a rope.----In fact that motor can be started with a rope if it has a dead battery.

    The high speed jet is found screwed into the very bottom of the float bowl.-----Did you have those out and are they confirmed clean?

    If water got onto crankshaft bearings there could be major rust / corrosion issues inside the motor.----Head bolt torque is likely 40 INCH LBS.

    Unless the motor was modified there is no fuse that can prevent spark if blown.----There is a fuse between the solenoid and the ignition switch.-----If that fuse was bad it would prevent the starter motor from cranking the motor over !

    Shift rod height MUST be set to a specific dimension.-----Then when lower unit is installed the " thumbscrew " ( trunnion ) can be adjusted.-----So in forward gear can you turn the prop clockwise but not counterclockwise ??
