very cool carb and intake manifold causing moisture

Several Intakes were designed to bring the Exhaust Gas in the Intake Riser, right up to the Bottom of the Throttle Body on the Carb, to get enough Heat to melt any Ice to prevent Icing and engine Stall. Ford started Preheating the Air going into the Carb, in the Late 50s to reduce Icing. I...

    Skiing behind Scarab Jet Boat

It's a big boat, and being heavy, it needs a lot of power to move, and it makes a pretty big Wake. Hopefully the Water discharged, doesn't hit you when being towed

What to do with old 2 stroke mix

Put it in the Mother in Laws car. Of course doing so will damage the Catalytic Converter(s), but hey it is the MIL Use it, diluted in lawnmowers

    Camshaft specs. needed, modification feasible?

A bit more money spent initially by getting the part from MerCruiser, which will work very well, is money well spent. All the tweaking in the world of the Timing and Carbs, can not compensate for a non-marine grind

    Camshaft specs. needed, modification feasible?

Best bet, is to get a Marine Grind. I have seen far too many "RV/Truck" grinds, that just don't work well in Boats.

very cool carb and intake manifold causing moisture

Ever take a Pitcher of Ice Water out of the Fridge on a very Humid Day? Ever notice how water is suddenly on the outside of the Pitcher? Same Thing is happening inside the Carb throat, Enough Ice can build up at the Throttle Plate and effectively seal the Carb closed. That was referred to as Icing.

    Intermittent Start - Starflite 75

You can't use Muffs on that engine, so running it in a Tank is the only way. There was a device marketed that clamped on to the Exhaust Snout, where the Water Intake was located, but they are few and far between these days. Fuel Level in the Carb might be low, making it hard to start. That...

    1978 Mercury 140 low compression

I also second the idea of a wonky Compression Tester Gauge. I don't think it would run at all with those compression numbers. I guess if someone ran it without oil in the Gas, all cylinders could be pooched, evenly. A couple cans of Merc Power Tune, or BRP Engine Cleaner will help free up any...
