    Small 4 strokes sometimes need electric start.----Reason is that flywheel needs to turn once to get spark to 1 cylinder.----A 9.9 fires both cylinder for every turn of the crankshaft.

    Suzuki DT200 rev limiter at 2000

    How did the motor run for you last season ?----The rev limiter does not kick in at 2000 RPM...----Do the trouble shooting.----Check spark.-----Post actual compression values.----May be running on 3/4 of 6 cylinders.

    Also depends on how far you travel with it.----Trouble 1 mile from home is easier / cheaper to deal with than trouble 200 miles from home.

    Helped a neighbor build a trailer about 30 years ago.----Did all the welding on it.----Saw it with the same 24' boat on it about 4 years ago.-----Still as strong as when it was made.

    Some do not have drain holes in them.-----And some are made with cheapest steel tubing.----Get a new trailer as that is junk !

    Maybe run both engines on a marine dyno.----Need to establish power output and see if both engines are in good condition.

    I consider the VRO as being an overpriced simple device.----Putting new rings on used pistons is a mistake in my opinion.

    The engine is the common OMC crossflow.---With certain features as it comes under Coast Guard rules for ---" inboard mounted " -- engines " -All suffer from broken piston rings over time.----Top ring groove is usually damaged.----Rebuilt many of those engines.----The rod bolts use a 5/16"-12...

    Design / size of the boat comes into the picture.-----In rough weather some boats can survive hrs waiting for rescue.------Others may need the high school wrastling champion and a large bucket.

    Learn how the electric primer valve works.----Test the electric primer valve.-----Or test with electric primer valve in manual mode , squeeze bulb 2 times.----Put valve in run mode and try and start the motor.-----Have battery fully charged and load tested as well.

    No such thing as a 4 stroke in 78.-----No such thing as EFI in 78.-----You can clearly see the 3 carburetors at the front of the motor.-----Do a complete evaluation before spending hard earned money on this motor.
