1976 to 1987 lower unit swap

The 76 is a Hydro-Mechanical Shift and the 87 would be a straight Mechanical Shift. I don't recall there being a short shaft 70hp in 76. You are saying that apart, the engine rotates, and the Propshaft turns, but together, neither will turn? Can the driveshaft be turned, when the lower unit is...

    Lower Unit Interchange

For a few years, when first introduced, the 120/140 used a larger case and the Props that were used on the V6s. After a couple yrs OMC went back to the Smaller V4 case as part of the 'Fixes' to reduce some Issues that they were having with the 120/140's Acceleration. By the late 90s the 130 once...

Livewells filling with water not hooked up or turned on

Every Live Well I have ever seen had a Drain. Some drained into the Bilge(a bilge smells bad enough, no need to really stink it up with fish crap/slime), others outside via a thru hull fitting. Still others use a Pump to empty it overboard, useful when the Boat isn't removed from water

Classic Fifty electric choke testing and replacement

Check the Solenoid for Continuity, and also check its Grounding. You can also put a Light/Meter on the Lead going to the Solenoid and see if power is getting there when the Key is pushed in

    Boat Disposal

There was lots of Cutting of the Hull, Deck, and Cap after, even before being removed from the Molds. Sanding as well. I doubt any PPE was worn, or even provided for those at greatest Risk

    Boat Disposal

Business Owners that made Glass Boats were certainly willing to take that Chance... with Employee's Health, not their Own. If I had my way, they would be looking at very long Prison Sentences

First start after lower unit rebuild - new boat owner

There are Idle Reliefs that are are part of the Transom Plate, that have a bit less backpressure than the path thru the Prop. Needed to be able to start the Engine, and allow it to Idle

Do you guys think this prop and rudder have been in salt water ? From a moomba 2007 LSV

I would say no. Some brackish freshwater perhaps, but there isn't any evidence of Salt on other parts of the boat or trailer

    1969 85 Hp evinrude V4 tilt trim?

Power Tilt was offered. Power Trim didn't happen until 1973, and it cannot be retrofitted. There are Aftermarket Trim systems that may or may not work, mainly because of the Way the pre 73 Motors were fastened to the Transom

    Repowering a 87 20ft sportcraft open fisherman

Welcome to iboats The dealer thought it was a 4 stroke? Did you have anything in Writing from dealer with the motors Serial#, and that it was a 4 Stroke? The incompetence of Dealers seems to be growing Daily Granted, you should have seen the Oil Reservoir in the Boat? No 'Lack of Oil' Alarms?
