    Plugs fouling

On Holleys, the Primaries have Main Jets, along with addition Fuel being added thru the Power Circuit, when the Power Valve opens under load. Most Secondaries but not all, do away with the Power Valve Circuit, and therefore the Main Jets are larger from the get go. Getting an Auto/Truck Carb...

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

There are much better Snake Oils than SeaFoam. Power Tune(Merc) and Engine Cleaner(BRP) are good ones. CRC makes a couple that would be okay as well You could try them before tearing things apart.

    1975 Evinrude 135

Well, the carbs stay fully closed until very late in the Throttle, almost all of the timing Advance happens before they even move a fraction from fully closed. Is the Ignition Plate, under the Flywheel rotating when the Throttle is advanced?

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

Yup. I didn't say it was gonna easy, but you need to see if there is scoring and/or stuck Rings. There is no Cylinder Head that can be removed. I guess you could put a camera into the Spark Plug Holes to look at the walls. Take the plugs out and look at them. they often reveal clues if something...

They are on the Starboard Side of the engine, a few bolts and they come off. Once off, the Ports will be visible, allowing inspection of the Piston and Rings Take Pictures before disassembly so you know what and where things were attached to them

18’ nitro 150 blackmax rooster tail or no rooster tail?!?

When the engine is mounted Higher on the Transom, or is on a Jack Plate, and the Prop is not fully submerged, the blades will throw water up and create a Rooster Tail, even when not over trimmed, but odds are they are going quite a bit faster than what you can attain "Most of the fellas around...

Help in IDing Serial Number on E110TLCE Evinrude

The 'M' is surrounded by a squarish 'O', a reference to, Outboard Marine. As far as I know, Replacement Engines usually came without a Disc in that location. As you state, it is often easy to tell if a powerhead has been replaced, by the color of the paint, and paint being missing from bolts and...

Fitting my Bunks to my boat

That trailer is specific to the a particular Hull, so the Angle, and location of the bunks might not be correct for your Hull. That said, you have an I/O and most of the weight will be on the Center Bunks and if you can get the Boat on far enough so those Bunks are at the end of the Hull where...

1993 javelin fish and ski prop issue

What engine is it? What condition is the engine in? Compression Test? Ignition needs to be able to produce a Spark good enough to jump a 3/8" gap. Are all the carbs getting Fuel? Are all the carbs functioning? How long have you owned this boat-motor?

18’ nitro 150 blackmax rooster tail or no rooster tail?!?

You can get a Rooster Tail by over trimming, but you can starve the engine of Cooling Water. Shortly after these were taken, the Water Jacket Cover started leaking water around the Spark Plugs, Warpage was the reason

No spark after spark plug wires wrongly placed… mercruiser 3.0

Something is preventing the Ignition System from producing sparks, or sending the sparks to the plugs. Remove the High Tension wire coming from the Coil to the distributor, and check for spark. It needs to be good enough to jump a 3/8" gap. If it does, make sure all the Wires are secure in the...

    1991 5.7 350v8 no acceleration after 2000 rpm - bogging out

New manual fuel pump? Old gas can clog and gum up filters and carbs. Other things... Choke might not be fully open, which will prevent the Secondaries functioning on a Q-jet, as can incorrect assembly of the linkage involves during a rebuild. Secondairy Air Valve can get gummed up and stuck and...
