    The tell tale is an indicator for the water pump on those.----It does not indicate proper cooling !-----And most folks today will buy / own a boat and know very little about how to care for them-----Same as yesteryear.----Most folks learned about their outboards through an empty wallet !!!

    See the knob under the reservoir ?----What does that do ?.----Possibly a bad shift switch.----Try direct to the pump motor with some jumper wires.

    Not at all.----I test motors with tank on the ground all the time.-----Works for me !!

    I doubt flywheel is the issue.----Post actual values of a compression test.----Check gear oil.

    ???----There is no ----Injection system ----on a 1976 2 stroke model -----Need a model # of this motor !-----Gas and oil are mixed at 50:1 on this engine.

    Put it on a dynamometer or use a test prop.----That will determine if it is the motor or issue with the boat.

    Year / serial# ?-----Perhaps there is a ruptured fuel pump diaphragm or leaking float valves.----Or air leaks on fuel line / inside fuel tank and bulb is pumping air.----Should be easy to correct I think.

    ???-----Just look at the cylinder head !!----I see the ports that allow water in that space.
