Claims its a cracked engine block

Is the progression of events: October 2020 you winterized boat stays in so cal? May 2021 you take boat up to tahoe do a one hour test run, temps around or just below freezing? Was oil level checked here after this run? You sell the boat, raw water is in engine. Two days later they take boat...

Need help!!!! 4.3 mercruiser just clicking

This looks like battery cable or battery issues. Clean boththe positive and negative cable connections to battery, starter, and block by flywheel cover (negative grounds block there), and take the battery and have it tested.

    Blown stern drive

No you need to go up in pitch if you have a 21” now , a 23” would probably give you identical performance

    Blown stern drive

Probably will work. I repowered my 4.3 to a 5.0, which from the factory would have come with 1.82 and 1.62 drives respectively. I kept the 1.82 ratio and stepped up from a 19” pitch to 21” and it works perfectly

Outboard oil in Alpha one drive

Agreed Not worth the $20 of gear lube. The premium lube is not the same as the synthetic or synthetic blend Hi PErformance gear lube reccomended for Alpha gen 2 drives like yours.

    Water on piston (Hydrolock)

I bought a partial engine package ( new base plus intake carb ignition) from michigan motorz six years ago. That was the way to go, its run great since then no issues. They also sell reman engines as well, but for a single engine not much cost differnce between reman and new

    Marine Power 340 Pulley Wobble

Yeah not perfect but i wouldn't sweat it too much the water pump is worse, maybe there was corrosion or imperfect fit/ burr between pulley and water pump flange

    Help with charging system?

You cant win them all. You have some spares so hopefully you never need them... at least you’ll be on the water this weekend. how many times do we hear the boat is at the mechanic for 3 months? You’re still money ahead

    Mercruiser 5.0L MPI 2007

Two options as they dont make new base engines for votec 5.0 s anymore. 1. Get a reman 5.0 long block from a place like michigan motorz. Swap your components over and get new exhaust manifolds. 2. get a 5.7 base engine new or reman but you’d need to reflash the ECM. There are companies that...

Buying a used boat anxiety-talk me down.

I have a 2004 Sea Ray 200 sport which is similar to the select except the select has a integral extended swim platform and nicer interior trim. I dont think the stirngers are wood in these boats but probably a call Sea Ray would tell. Floor is FG as well. There may be somw wood in the transom...

    Strange oil pressure

Thumbover what hole? Not familar with measuring oil prssure that way. Yes if bearings were bad or you had low oil pressure it would make noise either from bearings or valvetrain as lifters bleed down. Ive never seen a connection between oil pressure and temp. Had cars with very low oil...

Is an aluminum steel prop better than stainless?

Comon beside being shinny the vengence helps the dealer make money... its an inepxensive way to say your new boat comes with a stainless prop... One other advantage of aluminum if you boat in water that has obstructions that eat props and gear cases you are better off with Aluminum.

    What prop should I get?

Dont know the diameter let the prop manufacturer handle that pitch is lower than what you are currently using which is typical when going from 3 to 4 blade . 4 blade will typically drop WOT rpm so you drop pitch a tad to keep the wot rpm up

    What prop should I get?

try a michigan vortex 4 blade 18” pitch. Will definitely get you on plane quicker and give better stern lift. i used them on my old boat which was a 3.0 and underpowered for water sports. I ran a 18” for tubing and cruising, 16” for water skiing. I was about 260 lbs then and it would pull me up...

    Bunk configuration

Yes the brackets hold them up off the cross members with through bolts. Ive seen this much more common than what you have where the bunk rests on the frame rail.

    Bunk configuration

Your bunks need to come inboard just outside the flat steps in the deadrise of the hull. my magic tilt uses taller vertical bunks like these https://www.easternmarine.com/magic-tilt-carpeted-cypress-boat-trailer-bunk-board-pt5150 there are 90 brakets that bolt them to the cross braces like...
