    Holley 4160 set up questions.....

If the primary throttle plates have to be open so much that too much of the off idle slot is exposed(often occurs when a street/emissions carb is paired with a high lift long duration cam, or the timing is so far retarded the carb has to oppened up far greater than normal, the off idle response...

Dilemma: Waterskiing - Sea Doo vs small outboard boat (15 ft Glastron)

There many factors as to what makes a good small tow boat. A boat with a wide transom will pull a skier up easier than a narrower transom. A hull with some deadrise will track straighter than a flat bottom once the skiers starts cutting back and forth. If weight is an issue(towing vehicle...

    What year is this 140?

Looking in the the brochures from 1985(first year for the looper) til it was replaced/relabeled as a 130, I could not find any 140 that had a wedge shape(anode?)[red arrow] in front of the lower engine mounts. It was common on some of the off shoreV6s, but not on V4s. I will go back and look at...

size help... switching from aluminum to stainless

Stainless Steel props weigh a lot more than Aluminum so they do take more power to spin up. The weight increase varies depending on how close the SS prop copies the AL, or being much stronger , are the blades thinner? Thinner blades are more efficient so that will work in SS favor. Being...

    OEM Prop

The engine was rated 40hp @4500 rpm. WOT range is 4000 - 5000 rpm. We used a 12 or 11 1/2 on a 14 ft Skagit with a 1963 40hp Electramatic. A 13 1/4 did give an extra 1/2 mph but it took a bit longer to plane.

    HEATHKITs

This may have been discussed before, but with trying to restart an old thread... How many here were avid Heathkit builders? I was 12 yrs old in 1972 when I discovered Heathkits. I was in total awe of building a Stereo, as my dad was tone deaf and hated good music, there was no reason in his...
