    On the " double stack " the PRESSURE chambers are fed by one port.------On a motor like that I would install a fuel pump off a 66 model 100 HP.----Can pump plenty of fuel.

    Go with that pump in the picture.----Fairly easy to figure out the hoses.----Fuel in is the black nipple.----Fuel out is the brass nipple to the left.

    I would look for a used housing to repair your VRO.----Should be lots around.----Model # of your motor ?----Your location ?

    Mercury 25XD won't go full throttle.

    Test with another gauge.----Or remove covers on side of block to inspect pistons and rings.----And no there is no head gasket to possibly cause low compression.

    Yellow hose appears to be something to do with this being an outboard powerhead that is now an inboard installation.--Prevents carburetor overflow from turning boat into a small bomb , is the intent.-----Coast guard regulation ??----Not sure how affective that is ??

    The 40 HP models are very good.---The electric shift models came with a 10 amp generator,---Some will argue.----The electric shift is very good , simple and reliable.----The 40 HP was the same powerhead from 63 to the 1970 models.

    The 1954 was a 7.5 hp I agree.----But the 1958 like yours was marketed in 56 / 57 / 58.----Some parts ( ignition ) were the same in 54 .----If your were looking for many of the parts you would want a 56 / 57 / 58 parts motor.

    The 7.5 HP like that was only marketed for 3 years.----Last in 58.----They are a sweet running engine if everything is in good shape.----It needs a new water pump impeller before launching the boat.----Most old time " Evinrude / BRP " shops would have it in stock !

    It is easy to tell that the motor is a 20" as it has a different colour 5" outer / lower cowling.----Picture #5 I think.

    I have a 1963 model 65 HP and a few others.----So no mystery on these wonderful motors here.----You must install a new water pump impeller BEFORE launching the boat !----There is no warning / shut down system on this motor.----It could overheat and score pistons.----Then it will be sticker shock...

    This is so common !----Every one of these magnetos installed in the 50's / 60's / 70's has suffered the same fate.------The points and condensers have been replaced already.
