    Did you replace the o-ring that seals the shift rod ??----Often that is overlooked.-----The gearcase is sealed.----No condensation in there !

    High speed jets are listed as NLA----So you have to search E-bay / make some.----Or find a size close and modify them.---Not hard to come up with a solution, in my opinion.

    So you threw out the old bowls with the high speed jet ( orifice plug ) stuck in them??----You would not be the first or the last one to make that mistake!

    I say lip AWAY from engine block.---If you still have the old seals you might see which way you removed them.

    ??----Shims are used to get the correct fit of parts.----In this case the end float of the crankshaft.-----If there were none , then maybe they were not needed on this engine block.

    The tube that runs through middle of carburetor is called the NOZZLE on these.-----#15 is the high speed jet and even the fuel for the low speed mixture must first go through #15 on most carburetors.

    The high speed orifice plug #15 must be installed for operation of this motor.-----Are you calling the FLOAT VALVE the main jet ?

    Just 4 screws nearest the crankshaft.-----One in each coil and 2 nearest the crankshaft.-----Those need to be loosened about 6 turns or so.----

    Hence the reason for the question in post #26.-----Tried to save you time and aggravation.-----No need to remove that water jacket cover.-----You won't see anything you can not see through the sparkplug hole !-----Remove bypass covers on the side.----A much easier task.

    ???-----Your local boat shop will have a roll of proper wire.---An every day simple item.-----Needs to be 7mm with wire core.------That magneto is elegantly simple to repair / maintain / cheap parts too.----Visit -----leroysramblings-----for all you need to know !

    ?---What cover where you trying to remove to inspect pistons ?----A bypass cover or the cover around the sparkplugs?------Only by removing bypass covers on the side of the block can you inspect pistons !

    The early 3 cylinder used a less than robust gearcase.----Issues with top cylinder dome cracking.----Flimsy cowling.----Designed in a hurry to compete with popular OMC 3 cylinder motors.

    Take the cowling off.----Post 3 pictures of engine.----Post pictures of prop / lower unit and midsection.-----Your first 3 pictures mean very little !!

    Contact surfaces on these breaker points form an oxide.----Even new points need to be cleaned , I use 220 grit wet / dry paper.-----It has been this way for 50 + years for me.----So lap the tapers for proper fit and contact.-----Install flywheel with tapers clean and dry.---Torque nut to 45 FT-LBS.
