    In my opinion the starter is easy to check.------Perhaps that was a " modern mechanic " who is on a bonus program say 2% of parts sold.---Not sure how to test these components either.----No sensitivity to customers wallet at all.

    90 HP main bearing oil supply

    It is a big $$ check valve.----It is part of oil recirculation system..----Just replaced one on a 1993 V-4 rebuild this spring.

    It is running too lean on low speed mixture or throttle plate is opening too early.----Try moving the stop ( item 71 ) on that thin rod at the back of it.

    The retainer plate goes in BEFORE the 2 rings 321171 are installed.----I know this and the parts book shows it for regular rotation.

    Round of applause for the above post.-------Friends have an inline 6 model 115 HP .----A sweet running motor.------Yes they use more fuel , a bit noisier.-----Cheaper to own and maintain.

    Flywheel and crank tapers need to be clean and dry.----Must match properly.------Torque the nut.----Post # 2 was not far off I guess.

    They were NOT SUZUKI built.---One source stated that maybe they were Briggs & Stratton designed .---Lower units and carburetors were definitely OMC designs on these late 1990's OMC 4 strokes. !------Yes , Johnson marketed Suzuki built 4 strokes from say 2002 till end ( 2007 ) of Johnson marketing

    You need to be clear.-----Post # 1 says " not firing "-----Shop says bottom seal or " lost crankcase compression " after 10 minutes it heals itself.----.-----So have you run with a timing light on the bottom cylinder to see if spark goes away ?------Or I am asking if it might be a loss of fuel...

    The 90 HP would be a 3 cylinder I think.-----Spray some mixed fuel into the carburetors while cranking it over.----That should offer you a clue as to what is going on.------If it does not bark at you , it is not a carburetion issue.-----My bet is -----NO SPARK----at the plugs.

    Yes the cam underneath the armature plate can be moved.------But don't be fooled to adjust it because it does not touch the follower at idle.-----What is your motor doing / not doing.----If there are running issues than some simple trouble shooting can be suggested.

    Those tubes are fairly common.------It should be replaced.

    Agreed-----I have seen 4 strokes at a dealer where you could look in one side of the block and out the other.----Scrap.------An item like a crankshaft and flywheel when spinning fast , do not like to change position.------Tough on those bearings in wavy conditions..

    You might want to install a new flywheel nut.-----A good used flywheel should be easy to find I think.
