    Battery charging windings are under the flywheel.-----Can be tested without removing the flywheel.

    I have said it many times.------Lubrication and how parts " work " with lubricants is not well understood.-----Grease is not the proper lubricant for a 25 HP 3 cylinder gearcase !

    A good test case.---Left a 90 HP powerhead out over last winter.----New block / new pistons and rings, parts oiled 5 years ago..----Crankcase open and heads off.-----Covered with garbage bag and motor cowling.-----Out in the rain / swirling snow and minus 20 temperatures.------Took it apart...

    There may be a service bulletin regarding carburetor issues on that motor.

    Agreed----You need to review your choice of sparkplug for this motor.

    The 90 and 88 HP models are the same motor.-----The 88 " special " was marketed at a lower price without VRO and power trim / tilt.----And clearly lists a non VRO fuel pump for the 88 HP version !!

    The---- " sneeze "--- Might occur in the exhaust housing.-----The sudden rise in pressure pusher water down and out of the exhaust housing.-----Then water floods back in and makes strange sounds I think.

    I would guess it to be a 1988 model.------Marketed as an 88 HP special.-----Same as a 90 HP but often with no oil injection or power trim / tilt.----Well at least the powerhead is 1988.-----The rest could be a different year.

    Are compression values up around 140 PSI ?-----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on each lead ?----If you have original steel tanks they are sealed.-----But when you attach the fuel hose there are 2 small pins that are pushed in.----They are valves.-----One lets fuel out of tank and other is the vent.
