    How did these V-8 motors run for you last season ?----Any chance there is a hidden on / off switch.------Hard to believe both have the same issue.----Any testing done on ignition parts or you just threw parts at them ?

    Pink wires might have something to do with an optional trim gauge.

    There is a high sulfur content in gear oil.----Might be the reason for the smell.

    Tank holds about 200 gallons or $1000 worth.----My home heating oil tank does not have a lock on it.-----Looked it up on google and locking devices are available.----Might make something as my cat does not bark any warning like the dogs used to.

    Test run with another fuel tank and hose.----If that fails the test.----Replace check valves in the fuel pump.------Test for crankcase compression.

    Motor must be running or prop must be turned for proper operation of the control box.

    Loose wrist pins were an issue up until 1961 when they made a HUGE improvement.---From bushing to a needle bearing.-----Went to the same wrist pin as used on a 4 cylinder 125 HP up to 1972-----That likely will never wear out on a 10 HP motor.

    How did it operate for you last season ??----Is the motor running when you shift ?-----If motor is not running have your assistant turn the prop while you slowly put it into forward then give throttle.

    Went shopping for a truck last spring.-----Finally settled on a 2011 RAM 2500 diesel.---Most $$$ I have ever spent on a vehicle.----Happy with it.

    A 1959 10 HP------Have you checked for loose wrist pins on that motor ?-------A thin smear of Permatex aviation is ok.

    Working on a customers boat is not the same concept as someone doing their own work.

    You have an issue with fuel supply.-----It should be easy to figure out.-----Sorry , I can be of no help to you because I can not , see , hear or touch your motor.

    The water for the pee tube does NOT circulate through the engine.-----Just tells you the water pump is working.

    How fast do electric vehicles depreciate due to the needed battery replacement.----Perhaps there are no numbers attached to that.----Few will pay for a truck that needs a $30,000 battery soon.

    1971 135 hp inline 6 Mercury lower unit trouble

    Did you take the lower unit apart ?----Was there any water in this lower unit?----The clutch dog is spring loaded and the spring rarely fails to move the clutch dog into forward.----With the lower unit off does it shift repeatedly ?----Is spline in crankshaft in good condition ?

    How did the motor run for you last season.------The fuel pump is driven by crankcase PRESSURE.----There may be an issue there.------Post cylinder compression values.-----That is separate , but may offer a clue.-----What serial # for your engine and what rebuild kit did you use ?

    1966 Johnson 6hp magneto timing issues

    Actually I set the points by eye on a 1959 model 5.5 HP just to see if there was spark.--------Had spark.------Hopefully get the 11 year old grandson to do the final setting of the points using a meter and the flywheel this summer.

    Interchange stator ?

    Stop.----What ohm reading do you get on the sensor coil ?-----What ohm reading on the ignition charge coil.-------Usually it is the CDI / powerpack that fails.
