    A good unit will shift to neutral after one turn of the flywheel.----But it may still turn when on a trailer with no load on the prop.---Just the nature of the gears and bearings in oil.

    It must have fuel pumps.----Look for them on the carburetors.

    A 2 stroke in good condition does not load up.----But everyone has an opinion on this topic.-----I also troll ( 3000' elevation ) with a 1963 model 10 HP Johnson.----Trolls hr after hour on 24:1 ratio !!!

    Urgent request: dealing with a fuel tank spillage on my '83/4 Islander

    Work carefully.----You might want to pressure test your tank.----If there are leaks then replace the tank.----Or wear a parachute if you go boating with a leaking fuel tank.

    Often times you just need to open the low speed jets 1/8th turn at a time till bogging stops.-----What are the compression numbers.----Did you install a new water pump impeller??

    Fact-----When the stop adjustment is CORRECT it often looks WRONG to a novice.-----So put it back at 1/4" gap and test run.

    Why would a big twin not troll for hrs ??----I trolled with a 235 HP V-6 motor , a 1982 model.-----Hour after hour and no issues.-----The parts and pieces do not know how big a motor is !!

    Foam in carburetor

    It is condensation!---Fuel evaporating needs heat.-----So the carburetor body get cold.----Moisture condenses and fools you that there is a problem.-----Small aircraft have a " carburetor heat system " and you must wonder why that is.----It prevents icing !!!!

    Over thinking on your part.----Post compression numbers.----Post pictures of that thin rod on side of the block...---Picture of the adjustable stop at the back at slowest idle.

    Myself I would stick with a good running 40 HP Evinrude------A simple reliable well built machine.-----Easy and cheap to fix / maintain.

    Started up a $25 458BA 45 HP Chrysler today.-----With an 11 year old helper mechanic.---Cleaned a plugged carburetor.---Fixed water pump / cooling issue.----Runs like a charm with 120 PSI on each.----Some wiring issues to sort out still.----No money spent on the repairs.

    Not sure why anyone would replace electronic parts like coils , powerpack because they might be worn.----They fail but do not " wear out " as suggested.----Trouble shooting needs to be done.
