    fuel pump on a inline six

    hi the orginal fuel pump on my 250 inline six had a little hose from pump to carb, the one on used motor dosesnt. what is that hose for? and do i even need it? also i installed a nice big fuel filter water seperator on engine, so can i just take the little one out of fuel pump? thanks ken

    rpm and mph

    i have a 96 18 ft sea ray[175 series] with 3.0 mercruiser took it out today and the boat seemed to be flying across the water. only thing i noticed at 35 mph[about 3/4 throttle] rpm was 4500. i thought this was kind of high. what would be normal? or is this ok?. i dont know the prop pitch...

    i just noticed that i have a lock on my outdrive. i purchased boat at end of boating season and has been in garage since. called owner and he dosnt have it.[key] any big deal getting off? or will simple visegrips do the job? thanks ken

    procedure for aligning engine?

    i have a inline six mercruiser alignment tool seems to slide in fairly easy. just wondering can you get most alignment by moving front of engine up or down or do you have to deal with the rear shims which seem like you dam near have to lift engine to put them in. thanks ken

    pre alpha & alpha interchangability

    will a pre alpha lower unit with preload pin mate up to an alpha one gen 1 upper? and or will a pre alpha [mc1] upper mate up with a alpha one gen1 lower without preload pin? thanks

    pressure testing outdrives

    i did a pressure check on lower half of my mc1 and found that air was leaking at shiftshaft bushing, not a big deal. then tested upper, leaks down fast but cant find any bubbles when spraying with soapy water. where are the upper units likely to leak at? thanks ken

    i have a 1978 pre alpha 19ft bowrider 165 hp inline six. i would like to identify what prop is on it but cant seem to find a # where should i look? also i noticed it is a lot larger than my alphe 1 gen 2. would the gen 2 work if it is the same pitch? even though it is smaller? thanks ken

    mc1 lower bearing carrier removal? how hot?

    need some help. i drilled and fractured old cover nut to get out, also removed keyed washer. made a puller to get out old bearing carrier. i need to heat, what would be the proper heating procedure? do i just heat around threaded area or the whole lower area? tourch or heat gun? thanks ken

    i have a mr1 outdrive and noticed if i raise it a little to keep it freom touching ground when parked, the next day it is down. what would cause this? is this normal? ps when in tow i use a support bar thanks ken
