    MC-1 Gimbal bearing snap ring.

I just wanted to say thanks, I got everything back together this afternoon. Bellows were a difficult job but I got it done with help from a manual.I’m glad I replaced the shift cable as well. I didn’t have the water pump in me this weekend, but I’ll most likely use the water pump I purchased...

    MC-1 Gimbal bearing snap ring.

Update: I got the bell housing off, I was thrown off by the old school hinge pins but they came out easily. I'm going to replace the greaseable gimble bearing with a sealed unit. I have a bellows kit with new hoses and clamps. I have a couple of questions. 1. The bellows kit and shift cable is...

    MC-1 Gimbal bearing snap ring.

Thanks for all the help guys, I got it all back together and the new U-Joints solved my vibration problem but I found out when running on the muffs that the water hose from the drive to the motor is split. So it's all gonna have to come back apart. Thought I could get away with just the bearing...

    MC-1 Gimbal bearing snap ring.

I used an installer that goes over the alignment tool to install the bearing, it's in straight. I think I just need to get some blocks underneath the front of the trailer so I don't have to lift the whole weight of the drive. Gonna pick up a new gasket from west marine tomorrow and try again.

    MC-1 Gimbal bearing snap ring.

I have the alignment tool and the alignment is excellent, slides right in and out. I installed the new bearing without those shims it fits fine. It's hot outside so I was struggling to get the drive back on and tore up the new gasket in the process. Any tips for getting the drive back on? I...

    MC-1 Gimbal bearing snap ring.

Update: Got the gimbal bearing out, the snap ring was a pain. I got a set of long snap ring pliers and just had to tap them in with a hammer to get a good bite on the snap ring. It took me a while to figure that part out. I've attached some pictures of tool and old bearing. It appears to be in...

    MC-1 Gimbal bearing snap ring.

I have an early 70's vintage Merc 140. Just did U-Joints on the drive now I'm trying to replace the gimbal bearing. Mine has the snap ring, I'm having a difficult time getting snap ring pliers down in the gimbal housing to remove it. Do you guys have any tips or tricks for getting it out? I...

    Military Outboard OMC 35hp

Thanks for the help guys, I’m gonna go with 1984. The knob for the dewatering valve is missing. On the hood it says don’t run for prolonged periods of time with the valve open. I have no way to confirm whether it’s open or closed. I could start dissembling the dewatering system to see how it...

    Military Outboard OMC 35hp

I took it out for the first time today it runs well. It’s on a 14ft V-hull Mirrocraft. The dewatering valve has a bunch of lines running from it to the carb, the choke also seems like it some sort of primer as well. Since the engine runs well I think I’m just going to let sleeping dogs lie...

    Military Outboard OMC 35hp

It's been a while since I've posted here but I picked up a 35hp OMC Military outboard today. The model number is 1081-001A. It has a dewatering system that I've never seen before and it's missing the nob for it. What I'd really like to know is how the dewatering system itself works. Also I can't...

2016 8HP Tohatsu only runs on choke.

A little bit of back ground, I use this motor every couple of months but mostly it sits in the garage. After each use I flush and run until it starves of fuel then I put away. I store the engine upright on a stand. Recently I went to start it up since I get home once a month for a few days, it...

    1964 Mercury 650 Timing Question.

So, silly me accidentally moved the timing advanced stop screw on my engine and now I need to check and make sure the timing is correct for wide open throttle. There's a lot of great information on this forum and it's been very helpful to me...

New to me Crestliner Voyager 15 prop pitch question

I'm back on the forum again its been a while. I recently purchased a late fifties vintage Crestliner Voyager 15, the guy I bought it from put a 1963 65hp Merc inline 4 on the back and I don't think that the boat, motor, and prop combination are correct. I don't have a tachometer set up so I don't...

1968 Johnson 6hp hard starting and hesitation.

Hello everyone, I got this motor as an evening project for after work and for when I'm not busy with school work. So far this is what I've done. I've rebuilt the carb with a carb kitf and used a parts cleaner tank to get things as clean as possible. I have also installed new coils, points...

    1968 Johnson 6hp Fuel Pump

I just got this motor and I started replacing fuel lines (1/4" I don't know if that matters), I ran into an issue running a line into the fuel pump. After using a hose clamp to put the new line on it wouldn't seat properly and start spraying fuel while priming the engine. After removing the...

Tech Docs for 1968 Johnson 6hp

I just acquired this engine the other night. I've been out of the boating scene for a bit too long. So as a get away from work and school I bought this old motor. Years ago I had a 55 5.5 Johnson and their were some great sites with awesome tech support and documentation. Do any of those still...

    1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

I've got a really nice old wagoneer, that's currently at Aamco getting the transmission rebuilt and I understand that they can tow 5000 lbs, but should I be weary of towing anything with this vehicle, I've got a Hobie 16 and perhaps a 20 ft proline that I may want to tow from Jacksonville, FL to...

1958 Johnson 7.5 Pressure to Fuel Pump Conversion.

Hey guys, It's been a while since I last posted here but I'm having issue that I can't seem to figure out. I've got a 58 Johnson 7.5, that I would like to convert to a regular tank.
