    Vented plugs??

Are vented plugs necessary on the pontoons? I have always had some water in the logs but I think it came fro the vented plugs. Boat sits in water all the time except winter so I know it is not leaking below water line and it doesn't seem to have taken on in more water in the past six years...

    online prescription eye glasses

Has anyone had any experience with on-line prescription glasses? I tried a cheap pair from Zenni optical just to test the water about a year ago and they were ok. I just ordered a more expensive pair from them, better frames,1.67 index progressive lenses so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I...

    ATF tip of the day

I recently learned a tip from a auto detailer. Rub ATF on headlights to make them look new...it works! I also use it on tail lights and plastic trim. Not permanent but holds up for a good while. Just wipe on and wipe off.

Being green. How many of us old timers can relate to this story??

Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days." The young clerk responded...

41 years and it finally died

My central AC went out today after 41 years. The compressor housing rusted through and dumped the freon. I am replacing it with a split system heat pump since the old furnace was electric. I will still install 10kw of heat strips for supplemental and back-up. My house has 2 HVAC systems and...

    Pool time again!

With spring time it is once again that time to get our swimming pools ready for the season. How much time and money do you expect to spend? I dread taking a water sample to the pool supplier and leaving there 2 or 3 hundred dollars lighter and the possibly going back for more to get my...

anxious to try my new tow vehicle

Anyone have any towing experience with a 4.0 Grand Cherokee? I replaced my tired 4.3 Blazer with a 4.0Jeep GC ('04) and can't wait to see how she tows. The Blazer was 2wd and the Jeep is AWD (Quadra trac-II) so I have the option of using a lower ratio if the need arises. I was really...

Don't that make anything out of steel anymore?

I needed a set of car ramps today so I went out looking and all I could find were ramps made out of plasic and fairly expensive considering the material. While I was there I remembered (common for an old man) that I threw away a pair of steel ramps over 30 years ago. When I got home I went...

    old jeep cherokee questions

I found an older 1998 Cherokee Laredo that I thought might make a decent tow vehicle and daily driver. Does anyone have any input on the reliability of these older Jeeps with the 4.0 I-6 engine ant AT? I currently have a 2001 Blazer that is getting a little tired. I love the look and feel of...

    Extreme home makeover?????

Extreme home makeover in a week......has anyone ever followed up on how these houses have held up? I know it is all for show but really, would you want to own a house that was built in less than a week? My concern, among other things would be the foundation. I know that with modular homes...

    Stray voltage around swimming pools

Has anyone noticed getting electrical shocks when getting out of thier pools? I have found this to be an unpleasant situation in a number of pools in my area. If you are standing in the pool and reach out and touch the concrete it feels like a bee sting. I had the same problem with my...

    graco paint sprayer

My Wagner paint crew has served me well but it is a PIA to clean. Clean-up time is almost as long as the time it takes to spray a room. So today I purchased a Graco mangum project painter at Lowes for $239 because the clean-up looked so much easier. Has anyone had any experience with this...
