    Carb rebuild questions

I couldn't figure out how to get the high speed nozzle out that runs up the center of the float. I tried to turn it with a screwdriver but it didn't budge and I didn't want to break it. Also, with the slow speed needle, it looks like the packing that goes around it is stuck on the threads...

    Thermostat or Vernatherm?

After removing the head on my '73 40 hp Johnson, I got to thinking that I didn't see any type of thermostat which i thought was strange. I looked in my factory service manual and couldn't find a mention on a themostat or vernatherm. Am I over looking it?

Prop Shaft Seal 1973 Johnson 40hp

I have the factory service manual for my 1973 Johnson 40hp but it doesn't specifically say how to change the prop shaft seal. Its shows how to get the gears out by slitting the gear case. Is there a way to change just the seal without taking the bottom half of the gearcase apart? I'm doing...

    Where to buy cylinder head?

As I posted in my other thread, I think my #2 spark plug hole is stripped out. What would be the best plan of action, to do a heli coil? (Which I have ever done) Or just buy a new head? If I need a new head, where can I buy one? Thanks

Any RC boaters on the forums? Show off your pics!

I searched but could not find a thread for RC boaters. I don't have an RC boat but used to have several nitro powered and gas powered ones. I love them and love seeing good ones or homemade boats. Post up pics of what you got!

    First Outboard Rebuild

Hey everyone. I really enjoy working on things and am pretty mechanically inclined, as I used to do mechanic work before I got into law enforcement but I still like to do it as a hobby. I've never rebuilt an engine before and have been looking for something to work with that would introduce me...

Alpha I Gen I Exhaust Bellow Question

I've been reading some on here and other sites about a fixed exhaust tube that goes in place of the factory bellow and only connects to the exaust side and not the actual outdrive. When trimmed down it fits over the flange but when trimmed up it comes out. Now if that's ok to do, what would be...

Dual Batt. 12v system for Trolling Motor

Just wondering if I would hurt anything if I set up my 12v system in parallel with two batteries. I'm thinking you would get more run time out of the batteries. Has anyone done this or will I mess something up? I wouldn't see why it would mess anything up if it was still connected to be 12v...

    Wheel Bearings?

When I bought my boat (Taylor SS 18ft), it came on a tandem axle trailer, with the two wheels on the forward axle missing, just the bare spindles. I have the hubs that are supposed to go on the trailer. If I take the hubs to a trailer shop, will they be able to tell me what bearings I need? I...

    '78 Taylor SS w/460 Ford

Well, I got the boat in the water today for the first time and...she floats!! It started well and runs smooth (78 Taylor SS BBF). The only thing is, when you bring it above 2k and hold it, it starts to backfire out of the carb. When it does this, it's not real loud or violent, just a small pop...
