    How hot is too hot ???

    I have a 1990 225 Johnson on a 23' Pro-line that has an aftermarket (Faria) temp gage. When Idling the indicated temp comes quickly up to 200F and stays there.     I recently replaced the tired old 1980 Johnson 50 on my whaler with a 1994 Evenrude 48 SPL. I reused my controls from the Johnson. The new motor works great, but my tach no longer works. I can't see any reason why. Any ideas ???
