1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

Well thanks again for the recommendation kcassells ! This heater is amazing. I had it outside the boat but blowing under the tarp and I had a little sauna going on during my glassing of the port side. I had more time to baby it but I did leave it once I had it all covered and starting to...

First rebuild - '89 Campion Allante 185 - Stringers, Deck, Transom

if its glued then you need to get a wedge between the two layers, maybe get a thin prybar and tap it between, this will hopefully break the adhesion. but you're right, dont keep prying, youll end up breaking something for sure. Although Im not entirely sure how to help you since I dont know...

First rebuild - '89 Campion Allante 185 - Stringers, Deck, Transom

The cap of the boat is just sitting on the hull. Typically they are screwed together and then the rub rail goes overtop for aesthetics, as well as to protect the boat. I would assume this trim was also an aesthetic, there to cover up the gap. Are there any screws or attachments in this area...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

And on Friday it was warm enough for me to glass and so I got the front section, and starboard side of the floor glassed to the hull. I used Woodonglass 's idea to cut a thin 1x1 board and fit it into my gap. then I sanded down the corners so it would fit against the shape of the hull a little...

Also, since my garage is fairly large, I will probably have to build a little tent for the boat, just to keep the heat concentrated for efficiency. It's more of a gift than a curse to have an over sized 3 car garage.

First rebuild - '89 Campion Allante 185 - Stringers, Deck, Transom

I ended up measuring side to side from the lip of the hull where it would need to sit inside the cap, with respect to the back of the boat. Below is the little sketch I made for it. It's not perfect, and I haven't put the cap back on. But my measurements are still the same so I'm not too...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

And last night I got the floor support pieces glassed to the stringers, and the removable floor section glassed around. This floor piece will be directly behind the motor covering the shaft coupling and steering mechanism. Its removable to have access to this area. I used one sheet of 10oz...

First rebuild - '89 Campion Allante 185 - Stringers, Deck, Transom

Building a cradle isnt too difficult, depending on how your hull fits in your trailer. Here are a few pictures of my hull constraint, I measured everything before removing the cap, VERY IMPORTANT. I'm about to put my floor back in, and my dimensions are still the same, thankfully. My one...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

For some better clarification of what these boards will do, I took some more pictures last night before I glassed the other side of the boards. and got my rear removable section glassed with CSM and cloth. The images below are with the piece roughly held in place to show what gap this board...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

Well trying not to take too long on the updates! I was climbing around in the boat yesterday after we had people over and realized that I forgot something. Good catch too, would have been an issue. Below is an image of the engine and motor mounts from the side. Since I did a cutout in the...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

Well my apologies for the delay. Life has been busy with the new puppy, work travels, and personal vacation. But I got out tonight and got the floor leveled out. this first image is of the side of the hull. Showing where the old lip is. this next image shows the rear bulkhead. Which I...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

Well I did get some images pulled that are ok for what I am trying to describe. I plan on trimming the edges tonight so that I am lying flat! The pictures below are with the floor pieces in. they are currently resting on top of the lip of fiberglass that used to be the top of the floor. I have...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

Well. Last update for the night. I got the front piece of floor cut and fit. I need to grind some of the old floor down but overall it fits the space. there are some spaces between this piece and the hull headed towards the front. My thought was to put some really hairy and thick PB in that...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

And now that those are both cut and trimmed. Feeling good. I cut the middle piece and that's fitting nicely. Typically there is a removable section and then the permanent section where the engine cover mounts to. The removable is to have access to the steering cable and rudder. my...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

I did some sketch ups in ACad based on my dimensions that I took when first pulling the cap off. I think by putting it into 5 pieces I can get it to all come out of 3 4x8sheets. Note, the bow section I am not rebuilding since it was fine when I took it out.

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

Well busy week but finally another open weekend! Planning on getting the motor mounts finalized, exhaust ports in, start running cables and wiring (since it needs to go beneath the floor). and then getting 3/4" plywood cut to shape and rough fit it into the boat. If I can get everything done I...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

Looking back at pictures of the rear mounts I remember why I didnt take the engine mounts off. The bolt that locks the horizontal slide is right next to the engine mounting bolt. This would make it tough to get this bolt off. but again, doable.
