    *ding*...You've got oil

Excellent response thank you As mentioned I have an alignment tool inbound, thanks to Bruce's info I have also ordered a replacement bearing. I've been reviewing some exploded drawings of the outdrive upper and lower, and the transom assembly as I'm still pondering the fluid that leaked from...

    *ding*...You've got oil

Hi Gents, Ok let me understand both sides here: First the bearing itself and where it sits should not have grease around it, just inside on the rollers and races? Peering inside the area there is too much grease then and I will need to address that. The bearing should fit in it's spot very...

    *ding*...You've got oil

Hello again and thank you to everyone who's contributing to this thread. Hi Idle,.. I agree that allowing the drive components just to sit there in water is a bad idea, which is why I did the full drain, I allowed it to drain while still attached, it drained more when we took it off, it drained...

additional photos and information: first a full on shot of the the pivot housing. The exhaust bellows is completely dried, there was no water in there. I can see the pear shaped ring and it looks good. There is some goopy mess near the shift lever.. so we have goopy build up around the shift...

Free 1996 Sea Doo GTX that had a salt water bath

Hi Gang, Friend and colleague of mine has a 1996 Seadoo GTX... I see a lot of "BOMBADIER" logo written on it. but there is a big problem. Around 2005, someone didn't put the drain plugs in and put it in salt water off their dock. 40 Minutes later seeing the trouble it was removed and drained...

    I smell a rat.. maybe it's gas..

Offd, I owe you a little bit more information:First here's the official label on the new tank and the dry fitting with hoses moved and ridge ground down . Then I cut down the length of the vent tube, freed up the fill hose so I could get it properly connected to the new fill tube I added some...

    *ding*...You've got oil

Oh the fun never ceases. While fixing the Fuel tank. I noticed this .. Oil from the seal and top screw(port side only) of the upper unit. I suspect this is a result of when my boat "JUMPED" off the trailer and took a little ride down the highway. I'd say it's released close to 3 to 4 table...

    I smell a rat.. maybe it's gas..

Hello all, (I have a question posted below) OffD, thanks for the label information, and it's probably good that you did get that info. By the look of your label your fuel tank compartment is probably in better shape than mine. Mine was a nightmare, it looked like something you find in the...

    I smell a rat.. maybe it's gas..

On this topic, (and because I don't have my seloc manual handy) -- does anyone know the specs of the tank for this boat: 1992 Four Winns Horizon 190 OMC 5.0L Ford Model 502BPRAMH I'm reviewing some of the pictures I've taken recently.. and I think I've talked myself into replacing this tank...

    I smell a rat.. maybe it's gas..

Hi I was emptying some water off the boat cover the past few days and noticed there was that oily look to the water flowing away from the boat. Though it didn't smell particularly oily.. As soon as I get to the back of the boat I do smell gas, and I think that gas is slowing dripping from the...

4 Winns + 5.0L OMC -- top speed? and bogging..

Hi Offd, I went after it on Saturday..not fun at all. (more on that in a second) I also wanted to change the wires as the connections are worn. I bought the automotive replacement.. the boots connecting to the spark plugs were extra long just like the existing wires, but sure enough they were...

4 Winns + 5.0L OMC -- top speed? and bogging..

Oh forgot to mention that my tach is set for the right setting, but it's still bouncy when we're boating around. Heck just turning the key causes the thing to bounce around I'm looking into a a new one. Oddly the back of the tach has like 8 things connected to it.. I've not seen something like...

4 Winns + 5.0L OMC -- top speed? and bogging..

Thanks OffD for the awesome AND specific instructions. I'm including a pic of my distributor as there are no markings that I can discern... This cover does not seem to be the original color? 4 Winns + 5.0L OMC -- top speed? and bogging..

SouthK, Thanks for your information, I just went out and checked things out and just as you said it's on the hub face. 14-1/2 by 19. I also managed to grab the serial number of the outdrive! yay! The engine plate is worn away but as this is the original outdrive, I should be able to confirm...

Hey, there's no Foam in here! and other amateur restoration questions

Good Morning ! Last night while troubleshooting my bogging issue (working around the tank) I peaked around best I could along the underside of my boat. What I'm seeing is sort of surprising and would like to know if others have seen this same thing. This is 24 year old boat. I would have...

How to check fuel tank vent/ anti syphon valve

Hi Candiaoh, It's going to depend on your boat. I'm in the middle of doing work on mine right now, I'll attach a pic later on (unless someone beats me to it). If you have an I/O which I'm assuming you do you gotta pick the floor boards up over the tank to see it. On my rig, two hoses are...

Advice for my boat that took a highway skid at 55MPH

Thanks for the further info YachtDr. I share the same concern around losing some stability at the drain plug, and that's where I concentrated the fiberglassing. All of the glass I laid around the stern stemmed from that area back. -- It does not look good and I did a pretty hacky job.. but I...
