    5.7l carburetor choices

Ok , I ordered JEG vortec heads 514080 and aluminum intake 513002 for my 355 build. Block is a 92 5.7l marine cam 14097395 . The cfm flow for my motor is 436cfm according to the calculator. That seems a little low. I have seen the 1409 by Edelbrock recommended . What Holly would be good ? My...

    Compression ratio 5.7l

I gathered that. I just did not think about the rpm and torque curves. But I will stick with stock replacements. Thanks, Carlos

    Compression ratio 5.7l

Ahh ok , I did not realize there was a difference in heads between the marine and hot rod . I think i will just go with the 906 / 602 castings from rock auto then. The 151124 head from Summit is what I was considering. Rock Auto has the Engine Quest heads re bagged as Engine Tech.

    Compression ratio 5.7l

Makes sense , The heads were 1995 tbi ....217 casting. Question...I was offered a set of late model truck heads with 3/8 exhaust valves. Not sure of the casting numbers yet. The valves are 1.94 and 1.50. Would staying with the mid sized valves produce more mid range power? Since a boat only...

    Compression ratio 5.7l

My block was decked I have flat top 4 valve relief .030 over size pistons. compression height 1.548 with +6.90 cc piston head volume. The engine is stock build OEM otherwise. I would be using 91 octane from the marina. I have been playing with Summits compression calculator. Hence the question...

    Compression ratio 5.7l

What would be the safest compression ratio for a 355cid with factory roller cam. 1995 . 0F786416 Block is 0 decked . No i did not do a stroker 383 . Too much cost and work to the block. Next boat I will do it though ;) Thanks, Carlos

No my TB-IV is from my 305. I did not get the ignition with the fire slot gift motor. Does the TB-IV have a rev limiter?

    Eagle , Scat rod question

Thanks, I will be calling my machine shop tomorrow. Need to see what they will charge for balancing . This has possibilities , I am after the mid range torque. I have a non vortec intake already. A rev limiter would be good also....teen age kids == wave jumping.

    Eagle , Scat rod question

Thanks Lads, My block is already bored and honed for my 30 over pistons. The 383 sounds interesting. I would need a new crank but that is doable .The only problem is I would have to go to a Bravo out drive . That is not so doable. Just out of curiosity, what kind of torque and horse power would...

    Eagle , Scat rod question

I am at the point of deciding on either re-using my old PM rods or buying new forged steel rods. It has been suggested not to waste money on reconditioning my old rods , when new rods are about the same money. I can purchase a bore dial gauge to measure my old rods for out of roundness. But is...

    connecting rod bolts

Thanks, unfortunately up here in the Great White everything is double to what the prices are in the US. I am hopeful that my crank will only need a polish , and my rods check out ok.

    connecting rod bolts

When putting on new pistons , do most of you put new ARP rod bolts? Therefore having to resize the rod. One of my machinist's recommends checking the rod and resizing if needed , but not changing the bolts unless it is for high performance.

    5.0l vs 5.7l

Just a quick question , will my Thunderbolt IV from my 305 work with the 350? Just curious if the timing curve would be the same?

    5.0l vs 5.7l

Thanks lads , I already stripped down the 350. Crank , cam , lifters and rods are good . Interesting on the vortec heads. I think I will look for a set along with a block. May just sell my 305.
