Looking for reefs with Raymarine Element

I have found that the Underwater parts of the Propulsion System to be the best Reef Finder/Locater ever invented. Seems to function 100% of the time

    Stupid shake-down cruise? Lake Ontario

Myself, I wouldn't take a 'new to me Boat' on that type of Journey. Reading your Posts, I feel your mind is made up, and are looking for someone to agree with you. You can do what you want, but, I think it could turn out to be a bad Experience

    Speed Plateaus at 5200rpm

Time to get out the Paint Remover. There might be some nice smooth Gelcoat under there. Your boat, was that the one that had the rounded corner where the Transom and the bottom of the hull met?

Capitalist Gouging is why, the Industry will try to deflect why to anything and everything, including a Butterfly in Brazil, but in the end it is just Gouging. Insurance is much cheaper and better in Provinces where Private Company Insurance is not Allowed, but I live in a Province where the...

I boat in the Wild Uncivilized Prairie Province known as Alberta, where it is Yee Ha when it comes to any Rules and/or Regulations and where Justice is determined by how much Money you have. If you have a Lot, a slap on the Wrist, if you are Poor, to Prison you are going

You can indeed drive the boat without a License, just not Legally. In the 20+ yrs that Licenses have been required in Canada, I have never been asked to produce it.

    First plane ride/snow !

Thrill of Snow wears off in about 0.00000005 Seconds. I know if I never saw it again in my Life, I would certainly not miss it.

Be easy on me please. Total newbie.

Welcome to iboats First, this should be in the Mercruiser section, I have notified the Mods, and they will move it. Sand usually yields to Propeller Blades, Rocks not so much. Did the generous one, mention if the clunking changes when forward or reverse is selected? Did it change if the drive...

    Mild Winter

Way way too Hot. I like 15-16 in the sun, and 20 in the shade. Where I am, at night from May till Oct the Humidity hits 100% pretty much every night. I have the AC on as soon as the snow melts, and the dehumidifiers going to keep the Humidity inside at about 30% year round.

The Scales intersect at -40, then diverge again. Any paralyzing Storms this year racer? I know some parts of Ontario get hit real hard, resulting in loss of Electricity, for several Days

    1955 Mercury Mark 40 Help

Even the Non-Synthetic TCW-3 Oils are pretty good at reducing Carbon Buildup. Far superior Lubrication in a 2 Stroke than plain old SAE 30.

    Johnson evinrude drain plug washer

Water-cooled Gears and Bearings are not an Advantage, and if not caught early, can get very pricy. Reusing the old Washers has all the signs of being Penny-wise, Dollar-foolish

    Grinding going into gear

Too much Preload on the Throttle Cable can make for less than good shift action too. Just out of Curiosity, what Rpm is the motor idling in neutral?

    Grinding going into gear

Clunk or clang, is okay, but any chatter/grinding, and you are shifting way too slowly, the unit is either In or Out of gear, no easing it. On the those units, the Forward Gear and Dog have ramps, the Reverse Gear and Dog, have Straight Teeth/Recesses

    Gear shifting issue evinrude 70

We did that on a 57 35hp back in 1972, one evening at the Lake, when the Clutch Dog and the Tapered Bearing in front of the Forward Gear, were both chewed up. One front wheel bearing, gear swap and Clutch Dog turnaround, and we were back on the water. I remember my dad and his cousin swapping...
