    New Engine - No spark

Make sure that when you dropped the distributor in that the teeth align exactly where they need to be, very easy to miss it by a few teeth. Also, make sure your #1 is at TDC compression stroke. Use a pressure gage to confirm. Make sure all sensors that feed the ECM are plugged in and are working.

Pull your distributor cap and look underneath at the contacts of it and the rotor. They go bad quickly.

    Triax Marine Gear Oil

Just make sure it does not have the limited slip additives. I also use Amsoil. Amsoil has capabilities to mix with 10% water with no loss of efficiency.

If it is not kept in the water I think you would be ok until after the season to resolve. If slipped, I would add new cables soon.

Confirm the liquid in the bellows, if water, change the bellow. if that is indeed white grease that is the wrong type of grease. Use OMC Tripple guard grease only. It is blue in color. Replace the O ring around the water passage.

    Engine over heats

A couple possibilities that have not been mentioned. First, if you have the blue flush cap on your engine, check to make sure the cap is tight and not allowing air in the system. Secondly, check the O ring on the seawater pump to make sure you do not have two O rings installed, stacked on top of...

Thoughts on New Gen Direct Injected VP 5.3L v8 350HP?

If you are talking about the new VP Gen V motors, I think they have proven to be a reliable powerplant. As with anything a lot of your future with it depends on how it was previously ran and maintained.

    Help transom leaking

It`s hard to see a leak in the pic, but a leak anywhere on that hose would not be in conjunction with a bad bellows. The bellows could still be bad and need replacing but if you see water from that hose, it would not be bellows water.

    New to Volvo family

No need for muffs, use the blue port on the engine. Just start the water flowing before starting the engine. The port works well. Just remember to tighten the cap down good when done.

    Question about water in bilge

The water could be from several sources. It could be from the bellows, engine cooling hoses, bad thru hull connections, rain water that was settled in the front of the boat that didn't get to the rear until the front was lifted. Start with a for sure dry interior and take the boat to the water...

    De-winterize VP 8.1 Gi-J help please

So did they winterize the block and manifolds by draining them and storing them dry? Most winterizations account for draining the engine and manifold and refilling with antifreeze solution. Are positive that you will need to reattach the plugs and hoses?

400 hours is not all that much. I would plan on changing the oils and filters if not done recently. Maybe plan on doing the distributor caps, rotors, plugs and wires sometime in the near future to create a maintenance baseline going forward. Also change the drive oil, if not done recently. No...
