    A compression test is step #1 on any motor.----Next is a spark check.-----Motor could be running on 2 of 3 cylinders.----And yes , it will rev up on 2 of 3 cylinders on a hose.----Perhaps motor was sold for a reason.

    Partial transom repair

    Cut the outside skin of fiberglass off it.----Dig out the rotten plywood.-----Dry everything.----Glue in 2 layers of plywood as needed.----Glue the outside skin back on.-------If you have some power tools this is a 2 day job.----Or a week of 4 hour afternoons.

    Using a timing light / meter to set the points is the best way to set points.----Points open at the time when voltage / current is at the maximum and get the highest voltage at the sparkplugs.-----Strong spark makes for 1 or 2 pull starting !
