Front engine mount wont go low enough to align gimbal bearing

I chiseled 1/4 inch out of the wood mount i made and chopped the front mount 1" or so. I can now get the alignment bar into the coupler with threads to spare in either direction on the front mount. Is it strictly necessary to have perfect spline contact on both sides of the tool? I believe...

Front engine mount wont go low enough to align gimbal bearing

Yeah ive welded aluminum castings before. It's my least favorite material to work with because of how nasty the impurities are. My tig welder picked yesterday to have a problem with the ac function but it was good enough to do the job.

Rochester 2 jet running rich before and after rebuild

I think i have it fixed after 2 weeks of trial and error. A new throttle body and new power valve/ piston did the trick. Someone cranked down on the idle screws which cracked the casting at the idle jets. I didn't see it the first couple times because the damage is slight but probably affected...

correct plugs and wires for points type distributor on 140 engine

I think i may have found the issue. The contacts inside the distributor cap were so loose that they rotated enough that one of them seems to have touched the rotor. Never again with the cheap tune up kits.

Front engine mount wont go low enough to align gimbal bearing

A little more background info may be needed to clarify the situation. I already had the engine and transom assembly out and the transom itself had a little rot but nothing that seemed terminal. It's an exposed piece of plywood being an aluminum boat. the rear bushings are new I had to make a...

Front engine mount wont go low enough to align gimbal bearing

Calling all alignment experts. What can i do to get the front engine mount to go lower when im all out of threads? If i stick a spare driveshaft into the splines it touches at the bottom of the gimbal bearing inner race. Are there shim kits available for the rear mounts? I replaced them both...

correct plugs and wires for points type distributor on 140 engine

I've got a misfire at idle and backfiring when i rev it up. What tipped me off that it may be ignition related is when i put my inductive tach on the number 1 plug wire it reads some ridiculous value like 50rpm but the other cylinders read 800. If i check the coil positive when disconnected...
