Add me to the club of smart tab lovers. I installed my Nauticus SX smart tabs and went out today and WOW what a difference. The boat planed out so fast with almost no bow rise and I could stay on plane down to about 18 mph. The water was moderate choppy and it made the ride much smoother. When...
Made an oops today. In the frenzy at the dock I loaded the boat and signaled the driver to pull up about 100 yards to secure everything like always. I remembered to trim the drive up first but I never shut the engine off. It ran at idle for about 30-45 seconds before I realized there was an...
Which area do we post questions for tubing and water toys? I thought it might be under inflatables but that seems to be inflatable boats. Just wondering about rope types and lengths.
I was running along about 3000 rpm and I heard a clunk clunk clunk and the engine died. It would not turn over anymore. Not a hard thud from the starter like the motor is locked just wont turn
over. The oil monitor for the outdrive is and has been full. The engine oil is clean and full. It had...
Thinking of buying a 36' house boat with fiberglass hull. It is a 1981 holiday mansion and looks to be in good shape. Are there any special things to look out for in a houseboat that can be expensive to repair ? I will get a marine survey before we close the deal but what should be a deal...
I am going to add a bimini top to our boat. How tall do you guys like them to be? I think I want to be able to walk under it standing up but what are your opinions?
Just completed first outing of the year without issues !! A little prep work goes a long way. If the wind hadn't been blowing 30 Mph we could have stayed out all day
I'm starting the boat after putting all plugs back in and reconnecting hoses and I was a little paranoid about cooking the impeller. How can I tell if the water is flowing correctly? I pulled a plug on the riser after running for a couple of seconds at idle and no water came out but there is a...
I found only 4 plugs to drain the water on my merc. One on each riser and one each side of the block. I traced the power steering lines from the pump to the rack and don't seem to have a cooler. Is that it?
How much does my outdrive weigh? I am considering removing it myself as a learning experience. I know there are threads to build a stand but I'm not sure about wrestling with something thats so heavy. I am mechanically inclined and can repair automotive and industrial machines with no problem...
Today we stopped at the dock and raised the drive because the water is low. After the motor was shut off I could hear water trickling in the bilge. I looked and it was a pretty steady small stream coming off of the bottom of the exhaust y. I pumped it out and went back out for a while. Next time...
I read this on another post and have been looking for this answer. Now I would just like a confirmation. Someone said :
"I think if you go to ss you should drop to a 17" Rule of thumb; as pitch increases diameter decreases pitch decreases diameter increases.Diameter is generally only...
Does anyone know what the stock prop is on the boat in my signature? The one thats on it works well and I want a new one for a spare but it is not marked :(
I know it might not be the stock one but I'm looking for a baseline.

I checked my WOT rpms and was running at 4600 and 47mph GPS all trimmed out. My boat has a good hole shot as is. We had approx 800 lbs riders and gear. What type of prop would benefit me the most? We don't ski or board just cruise all day. I am considering adding the smart tabs. Would that...
I've posted a lot of questions recently and you guys are a lot of help. I'm still new so forgive me if they are silly. I do use the search but my problems never seem to show up there :( I just got this boat and took it out this weekend for the first time. Before I went out I noticed the oil...
I was filling the trim pump resevoir on my boat I just got and the oil was milky white and thin ( full of water). Is there any way other than water in bilge that can cause this issue? The cap on the resevoir doesn't look like it is sealed so if it were submerged I'm sure it would allow water in...
My alpha 1 gen II drive does not have a trim tab. I thought maybe it was missing but on the back of the selco manual it has a picture of one with no tab. I am guessing that this is ok unless it pulls left under power ?
I just moved into a 2001 Q7 with 5.0l Mercruiser. My boat has an 18 gallon tank which seems small. What kind of fuel usage should I expect just on average cruise.
