    No such thing as too much compression / suction / back pressure in my opinion.-----Can you or a strong teenager pull this motor over with a rope on the flywheel ????----Was the crankshaft out ???----If so was the center bearing lined up on the dowel pin ?

    But it all depends on whether you can find a shop that is willing to work on Evinrudes.-----I know of a shop that bought all the new spare inventory of Evinrude parts from another dealer.----That dealer is now saying no to every Evinrude service enquiry I guess.

    Bad starter.---Bad lower unit, checked the oil ??--Bad solenoid ?--Bad cables?-----Bad bearings in engine.------Simple test, can you ( or neighbor ) pull it over with a rope on the flywheel?-----Should be easy to figure out.

    I think " Quicksilver " is the brand name for Mercury accessories.------Such as oil , props and repair kits.

    Take the starter apart for inspection.----Load test the battery.----Inspect battery cables.

    Sounds like it was rust.----I doubt that was the issue in this case.

    Caution-----When a motor is recovered you MUST get it running ASAP.-----Corrosion of bearings starts as soon as oxygen get at the parts.----Get a shop to help you yesterday!

    Are you planning to do any maintenance yourself ?-----Check with shops to see if they work on these older motors.-----The Evinrude in first picture may well be a 79 / 80 model.----Any model numbers for these motors ?

    That procedure is done all the time.-----Mark TDC for each cylinder and check the firing.----Perhaps wires from powerpack to coils are mixed up.

    It has a calibrated hole.-----Lets a certain amount of air in.---Order the correct part.----No reason why anybody left it out.-----Perhaps they lost it.

    ???----These motors have hole in the cylinder wall.-----Bleeds off a bit of compression at cranking speeds.-----So 105 might be normal on one of these.
