    odd evinrude i/o

My friend was looking at a boat and asked me about it because he isn't very knowledgable in that regard. It's an old Evinrude 14' boat with a really weird engine. Apparently, it's a 88hp two-stroke inboard/outboard. I had never heard of such a thing? Did OMC make such an engine or is it...

'76 Merc 1150 running now, what did.

Thanks to all that helped me with this motor. Hooked her up to gas and water, turned the key and she fired up great with some encouragement from the fast idle lever. With a bit of adjustment idled extremely smooth at 550 RPM. However, the impeller was fried when I got it so I'm rebuilding the...

    Tube Wars Anyone?

When I was in middle school, my best friend had a river house and a few boats. "His" (keep in mind this is 5th grade)was a old Swan Point Center Console with a Evinrude 28 SPL. We would go up there, cut grass all friday and chill the rest of the weekend. Anyway, we used to hook two one-man tubes...

    Puzzle!!

Back in the 1960s a mechanic had a gas station / repair shop, which meant that many of his customer's cars were left outside in the lot overnight. He had some stolen and couldn't protect them from the hotwire thieves that came at night. You know back in the old days, before we had things like...

    welch plugs?

1980 Mercury 80. Do the welch plugs absolutly have to be removed for the carbuerator to be cleaned properly? Clymer says to drill 1/8 holes and pry them out, but I don't like that idea and don't want to unless necessary.

    interlux brightsides problem

Cosmetically restoring my Glassmaster. First coat of brightsides on the transom is dry. I'm using a variation of the roll/tip method. I use a very fine finishing roller, roll the paint on, then roll VERY lightly over the paint to get rid of the bubbles. the glass was already in great condition...

    prop shaft loose? Mercury 80

The prop on my '80 Mercury 80 can be pushed towards the bow about 1/8-1/4inch, then it springs back. The prop is a Quicksilver stainless 19p, the nut is on tight. Is there supposed to be that much play and would have anything to do with the engine "clunk" into gear more than normal?
