    Abyc

Seems to me that if the ABYC expects their "standards" to stick they need to be more than just a club and publish them in the public domain. SAE (also a private organization) does the same thing but they only carry weight if the purchaser specifies that the product must meet their specifications.

    Pontoon's flipping?

Heard a rumor the other day that some folks were having their pontoon boats flipping on them while pulling skiers. I think they were zig zagging around or something. Anybody hear or seen such a thing?

    Bilge pump locations

All throughout this site I have read "to the lowest and rearmost location" for pump location. If you have access to the bilge towards the bow, one needs to be located there also. This will be the lowest point when your not moving or at no wake and trolling speeds (especially with a V-hull)...

    1st post

Well it's here, so I guess somebody else owns one too. Mines a 1978 236 cruiser (bought it in 1999) originally came with a 351w OMC that I replaced with a Volvo drive and am in the middle of putting a resized 460 in it and using 1 of three Dana outdrives I have laying around. Anybody else?

    Batteries on concrete

Myth: The old myth about not storing batteries on concrete floors is just that - a myth. This story has been around for 100 years, and originated back when battery cases were made up of wood and asphalt. The acid would...

    470 heads

I went to Mercruiser school when they were unveiling the 470. One the things we learned was that the cyl head was a Ford 460 head. Is this still true? I went to larger boats soon after and hadn't kept up with the "shake and bake". THX

    White Squall

Apparently there are folks out there that do not know what one is. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_squall BTW these were not uncommon when I fished out Port Canaveral all the time.

They don't call it dope for nothing

Maybe this belongs in the Stupid Human Tricks Forum My Coastie son was telling me of a boarding they did last month. Seems these sportfishermen had left out a bunch of coke, mirror, straws and blades just laying out on a table in the galley. Now how somebody could miss a 270' WHITE boat...

    Beer milage ;-)

A recent study found the average American walks about 900 miles year. Another study found Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of beer a year. That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon. Kind of makes you proud to be American:D

    water woes

This is the east end of Orange Lake here in FLA. The Bass were just getting back up to size from the last drought (5 years). The west end still has some water in it, so far. We need enough rain to raise the water table to refill the lake. The first pic was taken 8 months ago and the water...
