3.6 firestone gas spraying out of reed plate solved.

Recently in a post I said gas sprayed out of what I called the intake manifold, which is the reed valve. It was the second gasket that had a chunk missing. and the reeds were not aligned right. they were at a slight down angle. when holding up to the light I could see a gap at the top reed...

Is it a sin to repaint with other than original color?

Recently got a 46, 3.6, firestone/scott. I have fixed all dents and leaks in tank and looking forward to repainting it. My research tells me it was painted dull aluminum. Pretty boring. Later firestones were loch lomond green. Decals are pricey. I don't plan on showing or reselling unless I grow...

In need of help with tillotson AJ16A carb on 3.6 wizard

After getting this motor to fire up I can only keep it running by setting on fast or by keep pushing choke button. I dissasembled carb and cleaned but did not remove welch plug. Diagram I found shows an idle screw which looks like it regulates what is called an air tube. So my question is about...

wizard- mac 3.6, can't get it to idle, need help.

I have cleaned the carb, and I can get it started in the fast setting, adjust the main in till runs smooth, but can't get it to idle down, have to choke it or open up the throttle to keep it running. I'm not sure how the idle screw works or where to set it. Any help would be great, thanks ron

How can I fix leaking fuel tank on my wizard / mac 3.6?

I am close to getting this motor running and have a leak on the tank bottom above the petcock. It is not the threads but the bushing it threads into. I was going to use seal-all, but have found that sometimes it works and sometimes not. having it brazed would probably be best. could it be...

Need advice on mounting position on 5 hp motor

I have a 12' appleby jon and a 5 hp clinton sea king. I centered the motor on the transom and with the swivel boat seat centered it is very difficult to operate. Looking for recomendation for small tiller steer outboard, 5hp or smaller.

Like the title says, need something with neutral, reverse would be good too, but not a have to. I like the omc's but don't know what Im looking for model wise. It is for a 12' jon. One with it's own gas tank. Tried out my 5 hp clinton yesterday and not having a neutral made it kinda scary. Also...

Took my montgomery ward/ clinton out today and was not impressed

The previous owner told me it wouldn't get his small boat on plane. Course I thought no biggie, probably just not tuned right or something. After cleaning and setting points it sounded real good and really reved up, like a chainsaw. I had a 10 to 13 mph wind and was not sure if I wanted to try...
