I was one who considered carefully. We're 10 miles from the Gulf and 100 feet above sea level. No floods for me, thanks. If I lived in a concrete home, I'd never evacuate. As far as I can tell, there are no places in the US which are completely immune from the hazards of Mother Nature...

Yeah, there had been predictions of 15 foot high tidal surge, but that didn't happen. Surprised a lot of folks in a positive way. I heard one news report that there were 76? tornado warnings issued during the storm. Scary.

Progress! :D Been awhile. It takes me forever to get anything done. :sneaky: Parts had to be ordered and I waited for delivery. Then hurricane Helene came along, then more parts ordered and more waiting for delivery, then hurricane Milton came along. Plus the regular life stuff. Not to...

We made it home about 0830 this morning. No damage to property, house, boats or vehicles. Got lucky again! 🍀

There is traffic on I-75. Big rigs mostly. A good sign though.

I'm awake now. Power went off at 1210 here. Pretty stuffy in this motel room! There's a small storage shed outside and the door or something came loose and was banging all night long. Stopped about 1/2 hour ago. I opened the door a little and the winds have reduced to a breeze. Much cooler...

Speaking of palm trees. My stepson, aka "the boy," is staying at his GF house. A palm tree blew over and hit the house. No damage though.

Can't access iboats.com from Android, but okay from laptop

The issue seems to be sporadic. It's worked a couple times, but then fails again. Each time with Gateway 504 timeout error.

My wife and I are settled into our motel. My wife has already set up house. :sneaky: The boy decided to ride it out at his girlfriends house. He'd been concerned about a pine tree in the backyard, but discovered a chainsaw in the garage and cut it down himself. I taught him that stuff.

Milton definitely has me more concerned than any of the others I've been through over the last 26 years, even Charley. And I got hit directly by Charley when I bugged out and it changed direction, ripping the roof off the hotel where I was staying. 😬

I get paid once a month, so did my usual shopping a few days ago after Helene passed. The freezers and fridge are full. Not good. :(

    TD-14 (Hurricane Milton)

I just had a minor freak-out, but it turned out okay. I called the hotel to get details on pet policy and was told that not all reservations worked because the big companies, like Expedia and others, were issuing "reservations" when none actually existed. Fortunately, mine were valid because...
