    MC-1 Drive Dog failure?

Your lower cable adjusts to a different spec than the alpha, 5 ⅞ or something, iirc. Also you have the cable full up in the slot?

    MC-1 Drive Dog failure?

I wouldn't overthink the adhesive. Permatex works fine. And that tube is removable...

Keep blowing my starter solenoid up.

Same general concept. But I don't remember the point of this thread anymore.

    MC-1 Drive Dog failure?

Interesting. Wonder if the MC-1 is different? I've never needed a special socket for an alpha.

Keep blowing my starter solenoid up.

Yes, but in something with a fixed resistance (light bulbs, poor connections) the current drawn is proportional to the voltage.

    454 mag mpi chuggles/stalls

I'm just looking at post #73. Good engine has initial drop/snap back as engine first fires and settles at 21. This is still higher than I'd think it should be (would be only 11 mmhg vacuum). Bad engine has initial drop, but no snap back, it returns gradually to 26, so only 4 mmhg vacuum at that...

So I'm not sure. The MAP is initially appropriate, ~15. Then the IAC keeps opening and the MAP increases, which would indicate more air getting to the sensor via the IAC, throttle open, or leak. The injectors look to be responding appropriately to the MAP and RPMs. If this was unmetered air the...

Did you try unplugging the iac? Missed if it's still running ok using cheap injectors?

Is the whole outdrive removed or just the gear housing?

Mercruiser dies after getting on temp

You should only have 3 wires in most cases to the coil. Choke, resistance and starting. Disconnect all but the resistance wire. However it should still run fine with 12v until you fry your points. Also make sure that you have an external resistor coil.

I've been following this thread just because of "chuggles". Love it.

    MC-1 Drive Dog failure?

Nice job! yeah, I was thinking of a block of aluminum or something as a jig, and slightly undersizing so that maybe you wouldn't need to helicoil. Or just cutting oversized threads directly in the aluminum.

Stretched Shift cable. Cut to shorten?

A stretched inner core isn't your problem. Either incorrect adjustment, worn sleeve, too much slop from elsewhere, etc. The interrupt engages because of tension on the plate, not the length of the cable.

If you have 2 good holes maybe make a jig?

    Shift cable bellows.

Don't know what you're working on, but if you tried to remove it without removing the plastic spiral wrap you may be in for an adventure. I'm not aware of any grommets on the alphas at least. Btw, just remove the out drive. Doesn't sound like you've been doing the maintenance on it anyway, it...

Alpha Gen 2 Stalls Going to Neutral (Shift Cable Replaced)

The spring can be bent to change its tension. The shift plate and cables can also bind.
