    the boat is 36 years old. consider it has rot until proven otherwise. you have to drill test to determine rot in your transom and stringers

    if the purple wire reference to the alternator sense pin calls for more juice, that alternator will try to make that sense pin voltage go above 13.8. as stated, depends on the battery and condition of the wiring.

    your motor is a flat tappet motor. I would stick with dino squeezings high in zinc, like Rotella T4 15W-40 as for the outdrive, use a marine gear lube that meets volvo's requirements.
