Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

I remember when I lived in Spokane, WA that the leaves would start changing in August like that.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

That's what I suspect. I didn't buy the gas at our local Wawa, which does a tremendous amount of business with subsequent constant product refresh. I always get the ethanol free gas there. But on that purchase, we were 50 miles from home and I bought the gas at the nearest station, which not...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I think I've found the problem. Bad fuel. It was 48 days from time of gas purchase until it was used and failed. :cautious: I have both carbs apart for rebuild and yesterday, with the lower carb, there was water in the float bowl and the fuel smelled like Varsol. 😖 We're currently awaiting...

    Humility

Yup, that's where the first image (on the left) in the pic above came from. I was a NASA Space Systems engineer for 20+ years. A friend of mine was a manager on the Hubble Project. I also worked in DoD and commercial programs and flew satellites while in the USAF. I never tire of space...

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

I pulled the lower carb apart this morning and I'm pretty sure that I've found the problem. 😏 Bad fuel. It smelled like Varsol. 👃🦨 And there was water in the fuel as well. 💦 We last filled up the gas tank in another city far from home, not at our local Wawa. And there was no ethanol free...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

I read somewhere that HDPE can be welded. May be worth looking in to.

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

Oh yeah, it's nice inside the house for sure! Miserable outside and even worse in the garage. I used to have that gauge labeled. My wife gets them mixed up too. I guess I need to put new ones on again.

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

The EPS foam blocks are waterproof all right. No need to protect against that. When I installed mine, I put the blocks towards the stern into HDPE trash bags and sealed them up with aluminum tape, so they're gasoline proof in case of a casual spill.

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

This morning we went back out to the garage. I checked the needle and it was still gunked up, but I got the tube clean with another q-tip and more carb cleaner. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the needle to clean up. I tried using more carb cleaner, a toothbrush, a brass brush and even...

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

We got the carbs off yesterday. I tore down the upper carb before the heat drove us back into the house. The gaskets were all perfect; no rips, tears, deformation; nothing. The float was just as clean and damage free. However, the needle and seat were gunked up pretty good...

    Finally, a good idea.

    I haven't read that one.

    Finally, a good idea.

A 5 month old article from the UK filled with hype. Politics isn't supposed to be allowed on iboats.

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

I bought what I could afford. And 2 years ago it wasn't clear if I'd still be around for long due to my health issues. Still that way even now. :cautious: Do you have a link for a good aftermarket starter? I've seen bunches of starters in all price ranges, but figuring out a...

    StarCraft kingfisher rebuild

We rebucked 300+ rivets, then leak checked again. It passed, so I then did the Gluvit. When finished, we had zero leaks and the hull has remained completely dry since then.
