What Bondo said . All of them do that, till I learned to just hold the wheel straight I was oversteering a lot. They will stay relatively on corse with little input from you.
Put your battery and fuel tank as close to the bow as you can. Small boats are subject to load. My duck boat requires the fuel tank and battery just ahead of the back seat.
The main issue with older 2 strokes is the labor cost. You spend say 4 hours re-building a carb and tune up, at $100+ an hour it adds up to you may as well bought a new smaller outboard.
Make sure the mounting surface is rust free, and the grounds at the back of the block are clean. Just looking at them dosent count, remove and clean them.
Yes. Mine had the fiber gear, about 1/3 of the teeth were damaged enough to warrant replacing them. I went with metal gears. Really not that loud but I insulated the doghouse pretty well.
Well, your cap is pretty rough looking. I’d replace that. All the ones I’ve worked on had a small plug that you had to take out on that raised area to burb any remaining air out of the tank. In my opinion, poor design. If it wasn’t burped the set would shut down.
Those bearings are not true sealed bearings. A true sealed bearing has a rubber lip on the inner race area. They are shielded bearings, unfortunately they can get water in them from leaking bellows. If everything is fine with the bellows, they last a long time. As long as alignment is good they...
Had mine come off the ball. I bought the rig used. Reguardless, left the driveway and a block down the street it came off. What happened was the last owner somehow bent the flip lever, straightened it out and you could not tell that the piece that grabs the lower clamp was cracked almost off...
I burnt up my impeller and housing last year running on the hose out at my cabin. At home the water pressure is better and no issues. You should check the impeller again.
If you have the piece, you can repair it. I’ve used this stuff in the past. I know it was not that much money but I don’t remember where I bought it. Sandable/paintable. Follow the instructions and you will have a solid repair.
