Kill switch tether yamaha 4 hp 2 stroke

Remove your present stop switch and then visit a Yamaha dealer or two to see if they have the type that has a clip with a kill switch lanyard attached to it. See if the diameter of the threaded section and the electrical connections are similar. Some modifications may be needed.

'02 Merc 4 Stroke - Diagnosing bad ECU?

If it is of any consolation you are not the first to throw parts at a problem and you certainly won't be the last one. Modern self diagnostic equipment can make the problem worse. Folks get a code, say one relayed to sensor X, and then buy and replace sensor X. Sensor X was not the problem.

'02 Merc 4 Stroke - Diagnosing bad ECU?

Do you see any markings on the CDI box? If so, what are they? If a Yamaha box is installed, the output of the CDI to the ignition coils can (should be) be tested. As shown below. If the CDI output is normal then perhaps it is the ignition leads. If below normal then test for the inputs to the CDI.

75 or 90 HP model? The Yamaha F75 and F90's of that vintage did not have an ECU. A CDI assembly was used. Capacitor discharge ignition system.

    What year is my mariner

Nothing to do with the best place to buy parts but for the Mariner you might have better luck buying Yamaha branded parts. More than likely that Mariner branded parts won't be readily available.

Yamaha vf115 ran fine first day, second day stopped and won't start

I am not suggesting that the switch be replaced. The switch may be just fine. I am suggesting trouble shooting and then doing whatever needs to be done to clear up the code 28 for the incorrect position switch fault. Then see if the throttle opening message goes away or not.

Why not fix the incorrect shift switch signal before anything else is done?
